Should I replace my omega smp with a Tudor bb58?

Hello crunchers, lately I’ve been debating whether I should swap my omega with a Tudor bb58 black. Reasons being the bracelet of the omega feeling old and big as well as the overall size of the watch feeling a bit on the large size.

Also, I’m feeling that the blue color although original is not versatile enough. With the Tudor I could save some money on the used market and fund a future purchase(eg cartier santos Dumont)

What do u guys think?

Haha! I was thinking the same but not sure which watch to trade for either like you bb58 or something else?

I traded my pelagos cuz I didn’t connect with it too much…

Also have you try the Forstner bracelet it looks great with the SmP …

No the Seamaster is an icon, you may regret it. Keep the Santo as a goal you'll get there.

#omega

Big step backwards imho...

Try different straps!

Or trade up to the Heritage model if you want smaller 😉

I would swap for the BB58. However, i would wait until April. Rumor is that Tudor is going to upgrade the BB58

·

No stay with the Seamaster

·

I would vote no. But you do you

·

No.

I'd say no. They're not equivalent watches. The SMP is more refined and has a better and proven movement. If it's the blue, trade it for a black SMP or many other colors. I'd switch out the bracelet for a rubber or leather strap. I think you will regret it in the long run.

·

I think the BB58 is a better fitting watch but this is a matter of opinion.

·

No. The Omega is head and shoulders a more refined watch than a Tudor.

·

You should stop drinking Monster Energy

I’ll just copy my own comment from a similar question (albeit for the GMT-Pepsi atrocity):

If you want fake rivets, the ugliest hour hand in the business, the most unfitting combination of said atrocity of an hour hand with a teeny-tiny-slimmy minute hand, a GMT hand that reaches over the minute track (with an ugly square at the top), no date-function, a slab of featureless metal on the wrist, movement exchanges upon „service“ and, on top, pay a premium for the name you should definitely go with the Tudor.

You get unbeatable ugliness for an ungodly amount of cash only from Tudor 💪🏻

·

Tough one. Fortunate to have both, and if painted into a corner, I’d keep my SMP over the BB58. Both are great, so no bad answer to your question though.

You could try putting the SMP on rubber or mesh, see if that changes your thinking on the question.

I fancy the FXD!

Omega all day, everyday. You’ll regret this. Try to appreciate the bracelet for how iconic and unique it is. It stands out amongst the rest. There’s no perfect watch, and 9/10, we all can change something about our favorite watch. And as others have said, the look changes with a strap swap. Your decision of course. But this is coming from a guy who has both.

·

Did you tried the OG pelagos? I own a Blue one and love it. The overall package was better than the Omega for me, I can’t recall a single day that I regret selling my Omega

Interesting. I wonder what other models they'll be updating....

This would be my vote too. The 300 is a great alternative to the SMP. The Tudor doesn’t do anything for me.

No

keep the Omega

·

Nooooooo………🖖

·

Do it. If you thought about it that’s ⅓ done. And now that you’ve posted it here, that’s another ⅓ done. Just do it already

·

As an owner of the prior generation black SMP300 and blue BB58, I absolutely love both. The Omega is my favorite of the two due to sentimental reasons. Bracelet, dial, crystal, bezel, finishing and comfort are all better on my Omega.

·

Smp 100%

·

no

·

My stance, no. Unless it’s a presence thing. The SMP is amazing.

·

Absolutely NO

·

Man this diver has Monster Energy in the Blue spectrum. Very nice.

·

Nope.
