I took particular care choosing my wall clock. I chose the Mondaine. Smooth sweep and it stops at the twelve as the swiss railway clocks do. Oh, and it gets the time by wifi, so it is precise.

I totally get where you're coming from. That dial is freakin' hypnotic in all the best ways... 😍

Interesting question. I did a 180 on that in recent years. I always thought a good watch does need a date. But realized, that date windows, with very few acceptions, do not benefit the design. In most cases, they ruin it. When we all carry phones in our pockets anyway, watches are more about form, less about function. So the cleaner design is the way to go. Just my humble opinion.

I love quartz watches. For a moment they seemed to be like a sandwich technology. Squeezed from two sides from the old and the new. Like CDs with digital (the smart watch) and vinyl (the mechanical timepiece).

But the quartz abides. Because it is tough as nails, easy and cheap to maintain, pleasantly precise and really, really frugal with regard to resources. It uses a miniscule amount of energy and will serve you nicely for decades. And it can be really slim and compact.

Which one to choose really depends on what style you want for your 'grab-and-go'. The Tissot PRX seems too mainstream for you, so I suggest a Rado Diastar Ceramica. It has the cool thermal-ceramic light weight, scratch resistent case and bracelet, is really slim and just looks like a class act! 😉

I love the 'tight-community'-thing you have going on, being like 'If you know, you know 🤫'. But one day I shall learn the truth and buy ALL the Tudors! Muhahahaha! 👹

The new Vario

I freakin' love this watch. It is part trench watch, part early aviation watch. And combined with the bund-strap it just works. What is your opinion?...
