Clocks

Hello crunchers... My question is do you only care for watches, or do other timepieces catch your eye as well?

Pictured above is my living room wall clock... I feel it fits nicely with the frame on my picture and the tone of the paint 🤓

Of course I know this app is for watches⌚, but there is so much to enjoy about different kinds of timepieces. ⏰⏱️⏲️🕰️

I enjoy all kinds, like the clocktowers at the country clubs I have worked at:

Even desk clocks can be fun! The old digital clock radio could be like a Casio? 😅

I have not got into pocket watches yet, but that is on my list of things to research.

Obviously so much to enjoy. What are you other favorite types of timepieces?

I think we have 8 clocks dotted around the house, I should go round and photograph them all. Most are simple quartz but they've been bought to go with the rooms they're in.

Let's say, it's a weak spot now and then... 🤫

I really like Cuckoo Clocks but they wouldn't "fit in" in my home

I took particular care choosing my wall clock. I chose the Mondaine. Smooth sweep and it stops at the twelve as the swiss railway clocks do. Oh, and it gets the time by wifi, so it is precise.

Here’s a few of my favorites. The last is a Kienzle electro-mechanical clock for an old Mercedes I’ve restored.

There are works of art that no wristwatch can match:

Musee d’ Orsay, Paris

This clock reminds me about my homeland. Every train station in Switzerland has at least one of this clock. Great clock but IMHO this design doesn’t work for a wrist watch.

Found this at a vintage store for $5. I dont particularly have any clock interest, but being a mechanical Omega clock and at that price... I had to buy. My research says it's from the 40s/50s. Its not currently working (needs a new mainspring at the very least) the repair quote I got for service plus a mainspring was $500. I haven't shopped any other quotes yet, but I feel like I'll eventually go for it.

Do I love clocks? Oh yes I do. I love them on poles and on the side of buildings. I love them inside and outside. I never buy them for my home but I love seeing them

My father was an amateur watchmaker but made a living servicing, fixing buying and selling antique clock's. They all chimed and it was bloody noisy at times but I do like a nice mantal clock that chimes the hours.

I can still hear that alarm clock in my dreams! Can literally wake the dead!

I've almost purchased several flight instrument inspired clocks, the dancing Elvis, sharps automic glow in the dark number, but in the end it was a cheap submarine clock from China that won, sweeping seconds hand. Also I love 80's alarm clocks, I've almost bought another spartus clock as a backup.

I posted this recently. I want me a JLC Atmos someday.

I have many clocks and also a good sized collection of mechanical phonographs (Edison, Victor, Columbia etc..). Anything vintage/antique and mechanical is very interesting to me.

Does this even count ?
