Doing some research for an upcoming article and I love getting feedback from the community here ๐
What would you say is a Go Anywhere Do Anything (GADA) watch from Cartier?ย
Ballon Bleu? Tank? Santos? Pasha? Ronde? Something I missed? None?

I have the medium santos and I think it is a decent GADA watch. I will admit that when I went camping recently it wasnโt the watch I took, but I think it can handle basically any day to day situations. I have the black croc strap and that turns it into a pure dress watch, but on the included brown strap or bracelet it looks great with jeans/shorts and a T-shirt (my attire 95% of the timeย
I think the Santos is going to be your best bet. However, they are not really a GADA brand. I would not take one hiking, or mow the lawn in one.
I mean if you think about a Rolex explorer or an Omega Aqua Tera, those are much more GADA watches than anything Cartier makes. I love Cartier, but all-rounders just aren't their segment. They are for watching polo... not entering a roping contest :)
From the current line up, Santos or Pasha. GADA while looking pretty ๐ Other watches lack the WR IIRC. There's also Calibre de Cartier Diver that has been discontinued somewhat recently that's truly GADA.
Ever since I saw Justin Bieber wear a Ballon Bleu it became clear to me that a man shouldn't wear one. The Santos is however still one of my favorites.

I am still waiting for a man to wear one. All I have seen are women and Justin Bieber.
i love cartier tank, but with GADA genre maybe tank with bracelet not so much. so i prefer santos. its a beautiful watch and look tough too
Pasha
Perhaps the black DLC Santos on rubber strap is closest, but I am inclined to agree with Jeremy that I don't really see Cartier as a GADA type watch brand.

Darn, the rose gold 40mm hand wind is on my "grail" list ๐ฅฒ
Pasha
Yeeees, Iโm inclined to say Pasha too! Gorgeous โจ

Ooo yeah, I forgot about the Calibre! Thanks for reminding me.ย
A watch isnโt a GADA for me if it isnโt a touch pretty ๐ย

Thank you. Thatโs a 2006 model, so getting on a bit, but itโs a workhorse.

lol, thanks. It was more just a chance to make a joke about Justin Bieber, than anything else.
It looks good on men :)
Generally, I think the person wears the watch, not the other way around. While I consider it to be my dress watch, the lack of dress opportunities the last few years has made me wear my Tank with much more casual attire. I think it works. Justin Bieber is going to be Justin Bieber in a Ballon Bleu or a Planet Ocean.
I donโt see any Cartier as a GADA. ย No lume and water resistance are their two biggest failings in that category.
They are unsuitable for the beach, fishing, overnight camping, etc. etc. etc. ย Office, formal, casual and daily wear are fine but they are not as robust, durable or useful as an Explorer, Hamilton Field or Smiths.ย
I don't think any Cartier is a GADA watch. They are way too elegant and fragile for that. Fantastic watches nonetheless.
My GADA is a Cartier Santos ADLC

A very cool Cartier, indeed!
I think that the Santos is as close as any Cartier gets to a GADA watch. Frankly, it's also the only "sporty" design by Cartier that I don't dislike. They specialize in dress watches so much so that I feel like they just can't get a sports watch right, maybe except the Santos alright.

My Santos De Cartier WSSA0037 has lume on the hands and markers, and features 100m WR.
It still may not qualify as a GADA, but it's close.

I suppose you could call it a GADA if you would take it fishing, snorkeling, rock climbing etc. ย Itโs got the specs. ย

This one is the winner. It does all the things I want from a watch (short of having a rotating bezel but if someone could make that work on a square watch I would be genuinely impressed) with the obvious exception of being probably the least "Cartier" thing in the thread IMHO. ย
Best GADA watch from Cartier? You betcha
Best Cartier? Not even close
My $0.02
(Oh and not bashing the Santos, its my fav and on my shortlist of grails, I just can't stand what they've done to my boy's dial and bezel #whitedial #steelorgold #godImanerd)
It has to be:ย
"The Crash" It's luxury, It's Sporty, It's modern art and no one will know if you fell off of your bicycle and bent it.

Winning comment right here!ย
My Santos with the ADLC bezel is my everyday and favorite watch. ย Could I wear it to go hiking? I suppose, but that's why I own more than one watch.ย
The Santos is easily the most versatile. And I would call it a GAADAA (go almost anywhere, do almost anything). What I call my Grand Seiko. The acid test for me is riding a bike. It's not that the watch can't take it, but I don't want to risking it meeting the pavement. I've already given a G-Shock road rash. So a G-Shock goes on the wrist, and the Grand Seiko in a bag.
Which Grand Seiko do you consider your GAADAA?

SBGA413. Most in the Heritage Collection, really. Spring Drive or quartz for extra robustness.
My dad recently picked up a Cle de Cartier. ย Itโs not necessarily GADA (I wouldnโt take it swimming), but it absolutely works as an everyday watch.
As a pilot I gravitate towards the Santos. Being that it was the first โpilotโs watch.โ
But the tank and Ronde are great looking choices too.
