As prommised tried designing a diver. Hope you like.

Old Bay diver concept. Named after the world renowned seafood seasoning gifted to the world by the great state of Maryland, USA. Combined with the steamed Maryland blue crab (a truly beautiful and graceful creature as well as our official state animal) makes one of the most delicious dishes known to man! If you ever find yourself in our parts, don't miss a chance to try it.

Software: Blender 4.1/Cycles/PS

Love the seasoning.

The watch...... not so much.

The minute/seconds hash marks are confusing and seemingly serve no real purpose and.... that hour hand.

·

Some good elements here....I very much like the Bezel. The orange accents also pop nicely. I do agree that you need some help with that hour hand my friend. But, at least your taking a crack at it!

·

Not my cup of tea, dislike the hands, indices and it looks like it's an integrated bracelet.

Good luck tho 👍🏻

·

This has a lot of appeal. The bigger indices look like art deco bridge designs. I like the case design. Hour hand…maybe move that circle to the post?

·

I actually genuinely do like it.

·

I think the circular elements are strong, so maybe they should be emphasized. Right now they look sort of overlaid on the batons and the hour hand. In that case you might meld the ⚓ more fully into the circular part: just a little peak protruding, if that makes sense. Maybe do something similar with the hour markers, too? The seasoning brand certainly offers some bold color options for alt dials!

·

Looks like something you could win in a crane game at Dave and Buster's

·

It look elegant diver to me.

·

Not too shabby.

I'm not a designer, but as a consumer, I think the circle on the seconds hand should line up with the circles on the indices and outside of the indices is the minute track. Just a thought. Good on ya for giving it a go!

The sharp angles and facets of the case design, the octagon that sits beneath the bezel creates a nice transition to the bezel. Bezel insert keeps this same vibe and works great. Meanwhile-The dial has a very 'circular' vibe with the indices being nested circles, the aggressive circles on the hour hand, and the circular counter balance on the second hand as well as the lollipop lume pin.

IMHO there is an incongruity between these two design languages between the look of the case vs. the dial elements.

Maybe try square, rectangular or trapazoidal indices to continue the case design onto the dial. I really like the 12hr index shape, for the other indices try batons or squares ala SKX339

The hour hand is too heavy when mixed in with the round indices, the large lume plot and the arrow bleeds together visually to create a cluttered mass. Arrow, dauphine, or baton style hands may be a good alternative.

As a fellow MD'er (MoCo born and raised and still here), and a GD for the last 25 years- I am excited to see how this concept flushes out.

Looks great!

·

I like except for the angles in the circumstance of the case. I would keep it circular, smooth and polished. Nice work tho..

Yeah MoCo gang is in da house!!! Moved here 8 years ago from DC. Never going back!

Edit: forgot to thank you for all your thoughts and suggestions.

Keep iterating on your watch design, you have great elements, you just need to balance things. Looking forward to your next versions.

·

Only thing I think that needs work is the hour hand and maybe lose the hash marks on the circular hour indices, they kind of clutter the dial. Otherwise, color is really good as is the case (and I love Old Bay)

·

I'm not any kind of designer but as a consumer I agree with @TimNich that the straight lines and angles of the case don't match the circular nature of the dial. I enjoy them both but I feel like you have two separate watches here.

I really enjoy the case shape and the the bezel insert. If it were up to me, I would prefer you move the dial in an angular direction rather than moving the case in a circular direction.

I was curious if perhaps instead of nested circles, would small nested diamond indices work? Or better yet nested octagons!

Unlike some of the other commenters I really like the hour hand. Unfortunately, to me it feels to large and dominates the dial. Perhaps if you tried octagons you could redesign the hand to match and reduce the width or size of the hour hand some. But I dig the originality. I feel like I can see the direction you were trying to go. I think it's a winner.

And like @UnholiestJedi as a consumer I can say I prefer my seconds hand lume pip stretched over the indices. Or as an alternative on the counter balance.

But it's your design project, I'm confident you'll work out out. I'm super impressed. If I every win the lottery and start a Microbrand I would bring you on my design team in a hot second.

I'd buy it!

What an impressive effort you’ve taken! I’ll throw in some quick impressions:

I quite like the hands and indices! The case has too many angles for my liking though. Fantastic bezel, but being recessed it seems like it could be hard to grip. The crown is too small. A single link bracelet imitating a three link looks cheap and boring. The distinct “spaceship” look clashes with the naming “Old Bay”.
