So, I got an Invicta...

Hello my fellow watch fanatics! Just added this Invicta 9423 to my collection. My mother bought it for me so it's going to remain in the collection no matter what. It's my first Invicta. I know the brand recieved alot of hate, and I know I've been pretty critical of them myself. I gotta say though, the Seiko NH35 has only gained about 5-10 seconds in the last 3 days. It's a decent little watch, and it keeps better time than 2 of my Seiko SKX's. They gain at least a minute or more over a 3 day period. Regardless, it isn't going anywhere. Thanks Mom, Love you!

Just got myself a invicta pro diver, pretty good watch for the price. That's a sharp one you got! How's the bracelet on that one?

My mother could buy me a wrist sun dial and I'd proudly add it to my collection.  To me, the watches that were aquired with love in mind are the best.  Enjoy.

It's comparable to the bracelet on most $200-$500 Seikos. Hollow end links, pressed clasp, but solid links with push pins. The pins fit nice and tight too. It feels slightly better than the stock SKX Jubilee.

A buddy of mine has the black pro diver and I tried it on. I liked it.

·

There is definitely worse out there, right? Good value for the cash.

·

That watch looks fantastic!  Invicta make watches that cater to every taste.  Congrats to them!  And congrats to you!

·

Thank you!

They are cheaper than Seiko and you can mod them just the same with the same parts. There's a guy on Youtube that buys expensive Seiko's to use the parts on other Seiko's but doesn't know you can buy the same parts from Aliexpress because Seiko and Citizen get a lot of their parts from China too.

·

As long as she didn’t pay their ridiculous MSRP pricing, enjoy it.

·

They've done that two-tone with class imo. I would absolutely wear that 👌

·

I have the pro diver other than a few customizations I don’t have any issues with mine

Umm, no.  Sorry.  Invicta is a garbage brand.  Up until 2008-9, they had some interesting watches, but since then, they have thrived on lying and cheating their customers.

Normally, I would salute a fellow collector on their purchase, because that's the way things are done.  But not with Invicta.  It rips off its customers, it lies, up to the point where Mrs. C, who enjoyed her quartz Invicta lady's Pro Divers, needed a new battery.  I cracked off the caseback, and found that wasn't a gasket between the case and caseback, which meant that the Pro Diver's WR was literally nothing, although they advertised the as 200 meters.

Everything Invicta touches dies.

I got this Hammy that I'm wearing today from my Mum too, as a 30th Birthday gift. Mums are so awesome! Wear it with pride! 💪🏻😉

Thank you🙏

Congrats on having a Mom who loves you and who wishes to buy you things that interest you. That is not to be taken for granted.

Early on I quickly told my wife and kids there were certain brands of watches never to buy for me, Invicta, Diesel, Android/Aragon and anything in a flight magazine or hawked on TV shopping networks. Have done my best to educate them about bad players in the watch world.

Since they are all into various luxury items, musical instruments, handbags, jewelry, clothing, boots; they understand.

As with any other piece of jewelry, which is what watches are, one must be very careful in choosing quality wise and taste wise.

That is a 40 mm case? It looks tiny in your hand. What a thoughtful gift from your mom.

Yes, it is 40mm.

Any watch gift is a great gift. Someone gifted me a Seiko SNK once and I thought I had won the lottery. Seriously. I mean, nobody gives watches as gifts much these days.

My thoughts on this are like a mix of conjurer and biglove above. I, too, have to confess I can't abide anything about Invicta - if watch fans wish to ignore the company's totally horrible track record with QC and CS, well, it's on them. I barked about it for more than a decade on various forums. Few took the advice; people still flock to a brand that's been sold with lies on home shopping networks - and, for years, failed to properly service the very goods they sold (notice I didn't write "manufactured," since the company actually doesn't make a single watch it sells - all its work is farmed out). But, hey, each to their own. I can only deliver facts with good intentions. I cared that people were being ripped off. They didn't care that I cared. What the hey.

Again, a watch gift - a watch gift? All watch gifts are great gifts. Zen, I hope you enjoy it immensely.

Watch gifts from loved ones are hit-and-miss, your Invicta seems a lot better than what my mum gifted me. In some sense it does not really matter, because it is a gift from a loved one. In another, it does:  in my case I fear the thing was bought as a reaction to a QVC sales pitch, and yours being an Invicta, well, I dunno, man...

I rather wish people (especially those knowing you well) spend some thought rather than money when gifting things, e.g buying something vintage in a fleamarket or on ebay for a fraction of the money can be so much more meaningful and personal.

·

She did get the idea from a shopping network, but it was bought on Amazon.

·

At least your mom knows which invicta to buy......😊👍

·

Normally I am not a fan of this brand but it's a nice looking piece. Looks like a mix of a seamster and aquaracer. Good call from your mum.

·

I definitely saw the resemblance to the SMP 300 in the bezel. Thanks 👍

·

Looks great.  I’m about to pull the trigger on a Pro diver auto.  Just swaying between sedate black or a full blue / gold bling fest version!  Change my mind every day!  I have a few Chinese homage watches with the seiko nh35 movements, they’re great time keepers for the price.  They give you the chance to enjoy different style of watch or little cost and if They get damaged, just get a new one, no drama!

·

Very true! Good luck making that choice!

In my opinion this brand is still decent as long as you don't have high expectations. It's not even in my fav top10 but I really appreciate the options they give.
