A touch of color

I describe my collection as boring. Of course it isn’t boring to me. The thing is that I like vintage dress watches. I often go for the crisp look of a steel case with silver dial. I have a variation in sizes, case shapes, bezels which to me make a big difference but for others, enthusiasts not into this cathegory, look pretty much the same.

Despite my preference I also need a bit of variaty. So, I added color to my vintage collection. No, we are not talking colorful dials here but I have a few gold(capped) pieces that creates a better mix. Earlier gold watches wasn’t to my liking but over the years they has grown on me and I have reached an age to back it up.

A good thing with these gold vintage timepieces is that they are available with decent prices cause steel tends to be more popular.

I'm a white dial supremacist because it is just the most practical and classic color. My aversion to gold has faded over the years as well, although it must be real gold. Gold colored nonsense just isn't the same. I think you're onto something about growing into an age where gold finally feels appropriate.

Love those vintage Omega's, whether in gold or silver that just oozzz class 😍

At the risk of taking the conversation leftfield slightly, vintage Omegas are class, they are an excellent choice and we’re genuinely quite affordable… that is until Mr Ryan Gosling and LaLaLand and a certain Omega bumper model that everyone just went bananas over (it is nice). Then the prices sky-rocketed.

I do get slightly annoyed when the hype train derails near to my station…

I am still on the lookout for a Polerouter; one day I will remember that it is near the top of my list.

I believe that within EU there still a good availability of fairly priced Omega and…wait…. Some European countries has to ad VAT of course😎

There is, but the uptick in interest and price is very noticeable. I have friends and colleagues who now ask or desire vintage Omega, and I wonder why (thanks GQ and other mens lifestyle magazines, and as Jon Oliver puts it - Canada’s sexy Ryan factory). It’s like Sly and Panerai, or Bond and modern Omega (saved the brand) and Rolex.

Bro, Vintage dress watches is were the true Gentlemen reside 🙏. Ofcourse, it's just a feeling and view point. But my nostalgic gut brings me to grovel in appreciation for your well curated collection. I personally love it 💯👍🧡⌚!

I agree, selfishly and wholeheartedly. I adore getting 80 year old watches a new lease on life, be it noble or foolish. Old watches are genuinely beautiful, even battered or bruised, and there is nothing more wonderful than seeing an 80 year old movement ticking away and keeping decent time. Bravo.

They are from a time when they didn't need big watches or the numbers on the dial for a dress watch. None of the modern plastics or quartz. They represent beauty without the flash.

·

Those are all great looking watches, especially the Polerouter. I really appreciate a lot of vintage watches, but am somewhat intimidated by them. I do have a couple vintage pieces, including this gold capped Benrus Wristalarm - not on par with yours, but nice nonetheless.

It looks great. Very crisp. The white dial with gold case is a very nice combo. The red arrow on the alarmhand is the icing on the cake👌
