Holiday watches. How many do you usually pack, one or a tonne?

As we slip into the Summer holiday season, a question has come to mind; how many watches do you usually pack, and more importantly, how long do you spend deliberating which ones to take? Is it a one-and-done, or do you labour over which ones will 'make the grade'?

I go with one on the wrist and a second in a protective case in my bag. Usually, a diver and a GADA on the dressy side to cover my basis.

·

I packed a 2-watch roll (+1 on the wrist) for a 5-day trip. One for WFH, a GADA and a colorful diver.

That sounds like the perfect mix. I usually pick one, but Watchcrunch has made me acutely aware #wruw would be rather dull after a week of the same timepiece!

·

I usually go with three. One on the wrist, two in a two watch travel case. Seems to cover most bases

I don't really have any dressy watches. I'd love to, but somehow there's always another watch that takes my fancy, and wallet, beforehand. I do need to get one!

So far, that seems to be the winning quantity. I'm just waiting for someone to say they take six or more!

Wear one, pack none.

Same for me. I'd hate to always worry and annoy my family about the other watch(es). Plus, my wife would get on me for spending so much money on what was supposed to be my "travel" watch (BB GMT with 200m water resistance for my 1-2m dips in the pool/ocean).

·

I only travelled once since getting into watches last fall and I only took my G-Shock DW-5600. When I leave for a weekend it's usually because I'm playing shows, so I take at least one casual/sport watch (usually G-Shock) and one or two watches for the shows. Show watches are either Timex Expedition North mechanical, Pagani Moonwatch or Casio Duro (until my Seagull 1963 arrives).

One or two, it depends where I go.

That is what I've always done. I may mix it up this year and add one more in the bag.

·

I usually go with two: one that can take a beating (Planet Ocean or Marathon GSAR) and one more dressy (Aqua Terra or Explorer).

Sadly, I'm careful not to pack anything too obvious if going to big cities like NYC, London, Paris, Mexico City... Don't want to get stabbed over a Submariner.

And finally, depending on how sharky specific customs are, I'll avoid packing anything too valuable. Swiss customs, for example, can be really aggressive claiming you're "importing" watches and demanding you pay customs fees. And they can spot expensive watches from a mile away 😂

·

Historically, that's what I've always done, I never sleep with a watch though. That's topic for another day! I may add an extra one this year for fun

Nice selection! 👌

·

Currently in Corfu and I took five.

Tag Formula One Chrono

Tag Aquaracer.

Nixon Regulus SS.

Seiko Sumo.

Depth Charge Dive Series Limited Edition.

I'm only here a week, lol.

·

I wear one, and keep it on my wrist during the day and all activities.

·

I wrote a blog post about this last summer. The takeaway:

  • Don't bring anything you'd be heartbroken to lose or have stolen.

  • Follow the "sneakers, sandals, heels" rule: one GADA, one rough-and-tumble, and one dress watch.

That's a great way of looking at it. I don't own an out and out dress watch, that's something I need to change.

Whenever I pack more than one I still usually just wear one. A vacation is a great way to attach memories to a watch. I say pick one you want to be a token of the trip, and wear it every day you’re there. Perhaps bring a second if needed for a specific activity but I think one is fine for a week or two away with the family.

Up until now, I've done exactly that, one watch per trip. This time I've taken a couple, mostly because of Watchcrunch! 🤣

·

I wear a g-shock, but generally bring two mechanicals in my carry-on. Sounds easy, but it may take me weeks to decide.

·

Only ever take one with me took my tuna to Scotland and my skx to Spain this year. I don’t want to be thinking about watches when on holiday

Some things are sent to test us. 👍

Both great pieces

·

I only take one. I don't want to worry about other watches in my bag, the hotel, the Airbnb.

I'm currently on vacation in Australia for three weeks. I was going to take my Tudor Ranger, but as were were leaving the house, my six year old daughter said she didn't like that one and made me switch to the Omega Aqua Terra. So three weeks with the AT it is!

No great hardship. And when I come home, I'll get to reunite with the rest of the collection :)

·

I’ve limited my collection to 4 anyways (obviously my wallet has a limit 😂) so I usually take them all if I’m out of town for more than a week. But otherwise location dictates what I wear out in public, i.e Sinn over Rolex if it’s pickpocket central

Sound logic. This is the first time I've gone with more than one. I blame Watchcrunch!

·

I take one.

·

Typically one watch for travel - Tudor GMT if a different time zone. But this summer I’m vacationing in my time zone in the same state so I’m bringing three…

Great selection, and that blue Tudor is my fave iteration! 👌
