My vote: Reverso. Although I'd buy a 16570 for myself. Hear me out...
It's kind of like supporting your home team, but admitting there are better teams in the league. The Reverso gets my vote over the Explorer II due to its truly iconic and unique design. The Explorer II's original design was offbeat but not really good, and later versions were too similar to Submariners and GMT-Masters to stand out as a classic design of it's own.
On a personal level, I like tool watches. So the Reverso is waay too dressy for me, plus the design stems from a style era I'm not particularly into. Still, that flipping mechanism is flippin' cool.
commented onHoliday watches. How many do you usually pack, one or a tonne?·
I usually go with two: one that can take a beating (Planet Ocean or Marathon GSAR) and one more dressy (Aqua Terra or Explorer).
Sadly, I'm careful not to pack anything too obvious if going to big cities like NYC, London, Paris, Mexico City... Don't want to get stabbed over a Submariner.
And finally, depending on how sharky specific customs are, I'll avoid packing anything too valuable. Swiss customs, for example, can be really aggressive claiming you're "importing" watches and demanding you pay customs fees. And they can spot expensive watches from a mile away 😂
Sell: Sub, easy. Ridiculously good resale value, and don’t want anything to do with the hype or wear a robbery magnet.
Trade: Seamaster 300 for an Omega Planet Ocean. Don’t like the faux vintage vibes or case shape of the SM 300. And I’m sure I can get a used PO in a trade.
Keep: Pelagos. Super usable / wearable. Under the radar. And now I have one blue diver and my traded Planet Ocean in black 👌
