I always wondered what most people preferred. Even though I’ve been in jobs for many years where 24 hour time was used, I just like having the ‘ol am/pm on my wrist.

Personally I guess I like it to match whatever device (PC at work or my iPhone) I’m looking at during the day; p’raps I just enjoy more of the LCD being lit up with the 24H indicator 😂

(shhh That’s the only reason I put the alarm flash function on ‘cos the symbol looks cool 😉)

Anything that has a 24h option gets switched to 24h if I own/use it.

12 hour time makes sense on an analog clock/watch, but it makes zero sense on a digital clock/watch in my mind.

When I used to wear digital watches back in my college days, I'd use the AM/PM function. Now, I prefer and choose not to wear any digital watches, as for me it is counter-intuitive compared to an analog dial, where you can visually immediately see how much time you have left until the top of the hour.

I definitely notice a mental shift when I go from wearing an auto or even analog dial G back to a digital display. It’s like I have to take a second to think what do those numbers mean? Then I really appreciate the sweep seconds hand when I shift back to an automatic (no hand-wind only pieces yet); it’s like a familiar, comfy pair of slippers 😉🍻

Yep! All my digital stuff is set to 24H without exception 🍻👍

24hrs. Been using this format since I was 18. Lol. Apply to all my digital watches and my phone.

For me when I wear my #casio #gshock it’s 24H all the way!  It adds a level of cool & military/adventure feel and for me that ups my level of enjoyment even more 😁

·

Ex-military, so the only time that exists for me is 24hr time. 😊

I never wear digital watches. I'm not sure if I've ever even worn a digital watch. I own one that my father left me when he passed away which I treasure. I haven't taken it out of the safe in years. I think it's a gold-tone Casio circa early 80's. I'll take a snapshot and post it. My life in measurement science is sooo full of digits (some instruments now display 12-14 digits) that I can't look at digits unless I'm forced to. That doesn't mean I don't think they're cool. One of these days I'll take a step and get an Ani-Digi and see how that works for me.

I've been using 24H format at work for over 25 years now (timecards, paperwork, etc.), so it doesn't bother me to have my digitals set that way. Funny thing is I mostly wear an analog 3-hander to work, with a 12-hour dual time bezel. 😁

I find my mind sort of switches modes when I change from an analogue watch to a digital and 24hr makes sense almost immediately. What’s a bit odd is sometimes I find myself looking at one of my 3 handers in the afternoon or evening and mentally thinking in 24hr format 😂

I think language also plays a part. I am a native German speaker (although I spend half my life in the UK), and in German, when communicating the time, we use both the 12h and 24h clock. For example, "siebzehn uhr zwanzig" is a common way to refer to 5:20pm. But a saying like "halb sieben" is only ever used with the 12h clock (and, confusingly for native English speakers, it refers to 6:30); my grandma even used the old-fashioned sayings "viertel sieben" and "dreiviertel sieben" (meaning: 6:15 and 6:45) which is all based on the idea of a fraction of the nth hour, i.e. 6:15 is a quarter of the 7th hour.

Anyway, the consequence of using the 24h clock commonly in the spoken language is that using the 24h on the watchface feels even more natural. And as the 24h clock also serves as a signifier of "we mean that precise time, not plus/minus 5 minutes" it just feels right to pick the 24h clock for a digital watchface. So, I think that among native German speakers that poll would be more lop-sided.

Most interesting 👍 Thanks for contributing 🍻

Ever since I was a child I hate AM PM notification, so i always display 24 hours format. Now, when I write reports or message people I always write time in 24 hours format

No room for confusion with 24H is there?

Spot on 👍

Always 24h for me where possible. Don’t know why - but I think it harks back to my early teens when I was in the air cadets and had fleeting thoughts about joining the military. And in the military, it’ll be 24h all the way.

·

24hrs is always best format military wise and growing up in Casio digital pop era was the thang.🤟

My kids are seven; I recently mentioned to the lad that 5pm was 17:00 hrs and he looked a little baffled 😂

I told him not to worry about it, that will come later 😉

(Probably when I get them an F 91W each)

24Hr all the way for me 👍

·

That’s good once they get use to it they never forget.

·

The 24H format always.
