Marriage and engagement watches?

One of the most important movements of one’s life is undoubtedly their marriage. I bought my seiko alpinist the OG sarb017 specially for my marriage and matched its iconic green dial to a green tie. Although I now own far more expensive watches to me this watch is priceless especially now that you can’t get this older model and it’s something that would never leave my collection.

I have two questions for you guys. 1 do any of you have engagement or wedding watches you got solely for that occasion? 2 does sentimental attachment trump price?

My wedding’s in October and I bought a Cartier Tank Americaine since the plan was to have matching Tanks but my fiancé’s left me in the cold because she’s decided Tanks look like toys and she’d rather wear a bracelet.

So maybe I will wear my Datejust or my Royal Oak

The Royal Oak is insanely good looking. What a watch!!

Without a doubt sentimentality trumps price in my book. While I am not a married man, I do intend on having a wedding watch for sure. There's something about having a great memory like that attached to a piece of art/history that means a lot to me. Memories are and will always be priceless. Having things that we can use and look at everyday to remember those memories is something very special!

Your Alpinist is a great watch and one that is timeless in my opinion. On top of it being great by itself, you've managed to make it even better by commemorating a day that will always be special to you. I love it! Cheers!

Can’t go wrong with any of those watches! I think the tank like you originally planned would be cool since you bought it for that occasion originally but all 3 are amazing watches and with the bottom 2 I’m sure you already have good memories attached so it would be cool to add another memory

1. No, all of my attention was focused on the rings. 2. MOST DEFINITELY, sentiment trumps everything else. The Marc Eckofashion watch that my wife gave me for our first Christmas together will NEVER leave my watchbox, and will always hold a special place in my heart. 😀

She didn’t get in the way too much

My wife gave me my Omega Seamaster AquaTerra as my wedding watch. (Got married with the ss bracelet not this leather band)

Image

I wouldn’t ever sell this watch. It will be handed down or be buried with me.

·

Sentimentality always trumps price. My most valuable watch is a GSHOCK Tough Solar my son saved his own money to pay for as a child. Take everything but leave my GSHOCK alone .

It is a great experience. My son is 16 now and a watch lover for sure. He wears all of my watches well! Of course, they are really on loan to me as they are his now .... he just doesn't know it yet 😎

That Royal Oak… woof.

·

I bought a Longines Master Collection specifically for my wedding…

Image

But the day before, my dad asked if I would wear his Rolex Datejust… obviously I obliged.

Image

I still love the Longines, and wear it to the office often, but the Rolex now holds an extra special meaning for both me and my dad.

·

Had to agree to wear that date just! That is my favorite date just dial as well that’s a hard watch to beat. Looks great on your wrist. The longines looks awesome too so even though you didn’t wear it then you still have an awesome watch on your hands

·

Oh, if I had only thought of it at the time, I would've. I hadn't been bitten by the bug back then

·

25 years ago my dad gave me this on my wedding day. It still works great and I’m still married to the same great gal!
