I'm Londoner whose been mugged/robbed twice. Purely anecdotal, sample of one. First incident, I had a group of youths assail me, it was in an isolated off track place. I should have handed over everything with hindsight, but had my uni dissertation on the laptop so struggled with it till passersby's appeared (I did lose wallet and phone). Second incident, on a bus, a gang of masked youths pulled out a carrier bag, asking all passengers to put wallets/watches in to carrier bag. The driver saw what was happening. stopped locked doors and alerted police. There was enough public dissent (elderly women/ hardened locals who were telling them to eff off) to keep them at bay till police arrived, at which point they all dashed off (they did pick up a few wallets/watches beforehand). I work in central then (day/evening) so I spend a lot of time there, so maybe my experience is due to higher exposure. If we talk about mobile snatching, I think nearly every one has some anecdotal story about that (either seen or experienced).
Btw, both incidences, knives were involved. I was younger and stupid back then. If happened today, I'd give them what they want in a flash.
I wouldn't wear anything that looks like a Rolex. Your Seiko should be fine.
I didn't want to put the name of my "[insert brand here]'s" into the post, in fear of triggering any watch cult.
There's nothing at the 4k range that motivates me. Thus it has to be 3 watches (or just 1 and bank the cash). I also like the price range around 1k-1.5k, where a lot of micro-brands are making interesting watches.
