Sizing help? Farer’s crazy short Lug to Lug dims

To celebrate a new job I’ve decided to treat myself to a Farer Resolute in either 36mm or 39mm.

With a flat 6.5” wrist, I was looking at the 36mm, but the extremely compact 41mm L2L is throwing me off. The 39mm version’s L2L is only 45mm, only 1mm longer than my 36mm Seiko!

I do have a slender wrist, but am also 6’1 and 190 lbs. I’m worried that while other 36mm watches look fine on my wrist, this one may wear a little smaller than I’m used to.

Does anyone here have a 36 or 39 and have thoughts as to its fit? By chance is anyone in the Seattle area and are willing to let me see a Farer in the metal?

Thanks!

For reference here’s a couple of wrist shots w/ my 36.5mm (44 L2L) and 40mm (48.5 L2L) pieces. I think these fit fine, while the 36mm Farer would be smaller than either:

The clean look here is very good.

Well then! Congratulations X2!! I’m 6’4” 220lbs and still out on a 36mm. I thought it looked really good especially poking out of my jacket sleeve.

·

Not all L2L are equal as the shape of the case will have an impact for certain. I plan on getting the sorbet one eventually and also have a 6.5” wrist, it is only available in the 36 last check, BUT if it were available in the 39, I would get the 39.

I think the 36mm would be fine. 41mm L to L shouldn't be a big enough difference (vs 44) to make the 36mm too small.

·

I have a 6.75 in wrist and in my opinion the 36 mm fits like a charm

Congratulations on the new job and the beautiful watch

That does look good! Do you know your wrist width? Mine’s 2.2” w/ the calipers.

The sorbet is amazing. I’m thinking 36 might be more appropriate with the slightly more dressy/less tool watch style, but I also know the 39 would be the safer choice b/c it’s size is somewhere between two watches I already know fit well on my wrist. Decisions decisions…

Comparing your Seiko 5 Sports Flieger to the Farer 36mm, the difference in dimensions (by 0.5mm diameter, by 2mm in LTL) is so miniscule that it's so unnoticeable. The same point goes with the Farer 39mm compared to your IWC. Imho, the IWC LTL is actually too long while the Farer 39mm with 45mm LTL is perfect, avoiding any overhang. Finally, note that the Farer has a very thin bezel, and a white dial, making it visually look bigger on your wrist. ;)

Whichever you choose... Congrats on your new job, bud!

In my view there's no such thing as too short a lug-to-lug or too small a watch.

In that case there’s a 29mm Omega Seamaster with your name on it on eBay! It’s gorgeous but tiny ! Not quartz either .

Congrats on the new gig. Love Farer!

Get the 36.5!! This is a 35mm in my ~6.75in wrist. It’ll look slick.

I can see how the lug measurement would throw you... 41?! Sounds like even if it has no curvature, that's going to be a very small-wearing piece. While I haven't owned a Farer yet, and can't offer personal handling insights, it does seem likely that the larger version would work well and be a safe bet either way. I have a similar wrist myself, and probably wouldn't hesitate to buy those dimensions unseen.

I'm rocking the Farer Lander 39mm today. I have an 18cm wrist (about 7")

I have a farer 38.5 pillow case case on about a 6.5” wrist and it fits great. 39 on a round would probably be fine unless you intentionally want a smaller watch. (Sorry can’t find my photo of it)

My Farer is a great fit at 39mm

Meet one of my 28mm favourites. Sold as a man's watch, incidentally.

I have the same wrist size same issue. My max lug to lug is 47mm. I wear a 36mm sea master and 39mm Explorer. They both fit. It really depends on my mood. Do I want a larger wrist presence or lighter weight? Usually I go for the 39mm.

In love with that IWC - but also jealous you’re getting into a Farer !

Oooh never seen a Farer with that colour face - nice

·

If you get it with the white dial, 36 is good - it has skinny bezels and it has presence. I tired them, and the 36 in white suits my 7.25 in wrist. The Sorbet looked good as well.

Thanks! I’m excited about it. I’ve been at the same place for 11 years and this position is going to be a nice step up.

You bring up a lot of good points. I actually don’t have any overhang with the IWC, which makes me think I must have a non-typical wide and flat wrist lol. The 45mm L2L would indeed be perfect if I decide to go 39.

Congrats again on the promotion, and advanced congrats to your new Farer.
