Speedmaster Moonwatch is #1. I have no notes

·

Not sure a list of the 100 top watches is a particularly imaginative or interesting endeavor. That’s a lot of watches.

·

I like how the Nomos Tangente at 38 was a clerical error lol.

Also GOD DAMN at them calling the Nautilus a stainless steel maxi pad with wings 💀

Thanks for the list saves watching the video

·

There is an unhappy octogenarian lawyer, a total jerk losing his cool not finding his cherished 60s era quartz Festina dress watch on this list. He would engage in fierce debate with all about the worthiness of his quartz beater. His Festina was the Top.

They did it in 20 minutes. They were quite entertaining as usual.

Correct. Needed a Glycine Airman in there

Yea, more so due to its' historical ties to the jet/space age.

Looks like I'll have to watch it

Good job typing up that list!

Like almost everyone else I’m sad my watch (GS) is down in the basement (in 98th for me 😂)

Image

And a whole schwack of Rolex blandness at the top? Wonder what criteria is.

No Alpinist but a Jacob and Co “billionaires watch” ? And so many other impossibly rare watches.

Image

Apple Watch and MoonSwatch high up in a list of the ‘greatest watches’? 🤔. hmm I guess if most common or or most hyped are criteria.

I’m guess you approve of number 1? 😉. Despite it possibly being the most common collectors watch (judging by the ‘3 watch collection’ post a few days ago) I’ve got zero interest in owning. More for everyone else!

·

I mean I love that it's #1 in any list, but there are some choices -a couple you mention & some others- that say this list isn't completely serious.

If I was going to put together a serious list of the 100 greatest watches of all time, I think I'd have to begrudgingly put the Submariner #1. It's just so iconic even non-watch people know it. But the Subby is even more boring than the Speedy! The Speedy at least is a Chronograph with sub-dials & pushers.

But using 'greatest' as the superlative leaves A LOT to the interpretation of the list compiler.

Some watches are great NOW after years of R&D to make them that way. Some were great years ago because they were the first of their kind. Some saved an entire industry.

One thing is clear though; the ways these lists will be different is as numerous as the people that put them together. We have to take each of them with a grain of salt. Only by hundreds upon hundreds of people putting together hundreds & hundreds of lists and compiling the aggregate can we ever get close to a real list.

Or we could just look at sales figures for the last 50 years or so.

·

They’ve mixed up 1 and 2, but that’s no surprise — it’s Watchfinder and Andrew Morgan 🙄.

The Santos should be at 5 or 6, the Datejust at 6 or 5, bumping the list down, the Ploprof and AP RO should swap places. I stopped reading when I saw Apple Watch ranked below the MoonSwatch.

Who do you mean?

Who do you mean?

Just a lawyer that use to bother me about my watches and any watch that cost more than $65.00 cad.

·

That Bum left out the Casio Royale, Sinn, Invictas and a few other more.
