New additions to the Timex Museum

Hey Folks,

There was a fair amount of interest in what I did with my old watches that no longer work, so I decided to turn my office into an old fashioned Timex museum. Since my last upload, I added a few more cabinets and changed things a bit. I work from home full time now, so I love doing my work in my mini museum. Enjoy

Can’t speak for your wife but I’m all for your collection 👍👍👍👍

Dude, I love it, except for one thing. The methodical, eruditic nerd inside of me cannot get past the statement you made about the watches no longer working!!! 😮😮😮 YOU HAVE TO FIX ALL OF THEM, RIGHT NOW!!! 😎🤣🤣

I think that would make my OCD worse and I do have 100 others that work. lol

Looks awesome, but is there still room for yourself?

Thanks. Not sure if that's meant to be a practical question or a philosophical one, if it's practical, the room is very large and that is just where my desk sits. Behind me is about 20 more feet which I have a piano, large screen television, my Kiss collection and my figurine collection, plus a lot more room after that. I'm done with collecting because I feel It's as good as it can get for the space.

The Timex guru! Very cool, always a pleasure seeing your impressive collection.

Is there a Timex you would want to add to your collection that so far has eluded you? A unicorn Timex, if you will...

Hey Man, thanks for the great question. The cool thing about collecting affordable watches, in my case Timex, not many allude you because they are so affordable, however, some of them are out-of-stock and you can pay up on ebay which I did on very rare occasions, so I can pretty much say, I got all my Timex Grails which now is over 100 in my Timex Shrine/Museum. lol

As far as paying high prices, I just bought my first Rolex which was always my grail and I really had to think about paying that much for a watch, but I now feel, I have come full circle, from Timex to Rolex. Never loved the flex culture that some Rolex fans seem to enjoy, but I now see what all the fuss is about. Unfortunately I had to get it through the grey market but got a great deal.

Have you added your museum to Google Maps?

·

Hey Man, no, it's not a real museum, just a little spot in my home office.

Congrats on the grail purchase! Which Rolex did you get?

Do you have any of the Timex Waterbury collection? This one's a favorite of mine, that I hope to find someday, that @hakki501 turned me on to, but is no longer available. The last ones I saw were all in Italy:

Beautiful watch. I love the watches in the Waterbury collection and have quite a few of them, they are so classy looking. My personal favorite is the Q reissue Coke Bezel, M79 version, the America Documents (Handmade), the new Marlin with the sub-dial and all my special edition Marlins with the Peanuts characters at the six position. I bought the Rolex Submariner which I posted in WRUW section today.

The hardest part is that Timex are notoriously hard to repair, by design. Affordable, so you can just replace. Their greatest strength but also Achilles heel.

Yeah, that was definitely the case with the older ones. The Timex of today are a different beast, for the next generation that wants to fix a Timex of today due to sentimental reasons, can just replace the movement if they care to. Most of them have Miyota movements.

Yes. I'm glad to hear replacement of the movement is possible.

Or you can build a shrine and put the non-working watches there for display only. lol. Hey Rolex does it all the time. lol

That’s badass! Love it.

Needs more Timex. 😉

I clicked the "laugh" emoji. I couldn't find the "Simply Making an Accurate Statement" one.

ChadDipps

Timex King in my book! They should outreach to you and be proud sponsor.

Yes, what Chad said. Have their people call your people.

·
hakki501

You should turn it into an actual museum, and people will pay to see it. 😉

Regardless, when I get the chance to visit your city, will definitely drop by as promised. 🍻

SHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Right now, we get to see it for free!

And it is TOO a real museum!

And these photos need to be on the WatchCrunch home page, along with a photo collage of guys wearing their watches in public, so that the "wear your watches/don't wear your watches" argument never comes up again.

·

Where's the groan emoji?

·
TimexBadger

And cowbell!

Want more cowbell? Buy some Procol Harum CDs and listen to their drummer B. J. Wilson on these songs:

-Whisky Train

-Power Failure

-Poor Mohammed

-Bringing Home the Bacon

-Monsieur R. Monde

-The Unquiet Zone

-Typewriter Torment

Timex heaven 🙏

Just rereading this incredible post, and I have two questions. 1. Can we have some close-up pics please and 2. What's a kiss collection? 😀

Hey thanks for the kind words, to be honest I'm not the greatest at taking pictures but I'll give it a shot one day. Not sure if the question about the Kiss collection was a joke or not, but if not, I am a big fan of the rock band Kiss and I have a section with Kiss dolls, magazines and auotographs of the band. Have a great day!
