Bausele Langstone Watch

With the watch world going crazy over the releases in Switzerland, I thought to share something of my own.

A project that I have been working on since Nov 22 with Bausele Watches, Australia.

The Bausele Langstone, commemorates the actions of the Combined Operations Pilotage Parties (COPP) Canoeists who conducted daring amphibious missions from beach raids, to beach reconnaissance in all theatres of The Second World War. Without these service personnel it could be argued the Normandy Landings on 6th June 1944 wouldn’t have been as successful. The COPP canoeists went on to form the Special Boat Service after the war.

This watch takes design elements from the original COSD “Tuna Can” watches issued to the COPP Canoeists, whilst bending signature aesthetics and the modern build quality that Bausele Watches are known for. This culminates in the use of the hollow crown which encapsulates sand from the Normandy Beaches.

The watch is limited to 80 pieces, please get in touch or follow the link below to sign up for notifications from Bausele directly.

I'm a military instructor and one of the classes I teach is Army Infantry History. This watch is badass and I'm all for it.

You’ll have to show me photos in June of it in a military setting 😎

What a beautiful watch, and the story behind it. The crown is genius. Congratulations! I bet the first 80 will sell like warm bread.

Thank you! There will only be 80 in total not in batches of 80 just incase you were considering it

Jeez I could wear that crown on my head!

@solidyetti might appreciate this.

Thx for the heads up! Love the Normandy sand crown.

These last two years this gif appropriately describes me with all the sweet micro releases!

Love the Canoeist stories. Had a Canoeist smock for awhile, but ended up trading it for an M-65.

Crown looks silly. Just my opinion. Waaay to big.

·

A 38mm case with what looks like a +8mm height crown? I don’t understand this design decision - this is going to be uncomfortable to wear doing anything remotely active.

The crown is oversized in tiribute to the original COSD watches

Yes, noted, I’m familiar with the original Longines COSD, but that’s a 35mm case, with a 7mm crown, still oversized, but somewhat understandable given the manual wind movement and the necessities of war. In scaling both the case and crown up, and pairing with a fairly thick NH-35, my feeling is that this may have reached a shape that is no longer practical for extended outdoor wear. I’d say the same thing for most watches over 46mm in case diameter or 100 grams - just too big for my particular taste (especially if I’m taking it in the ocean, or on a hiking trip). That said, lots of people like oversized designs, I’m sure it will find success.
