I finally get the hype!

Saw this sitting by itself in a local Walmart store and decided to see what everyone was crowing about. Man, am I glad I did! This G-Shock DW-5600E is ah-mazing! Comfortable, tough and infinitely versatile! Proud to have it as my 4th G-shock!

I get it! I didn't understand why people were raving about it at first, but then the look grew on me and I bought one during an Amazon sale at the end of February. I barely wore anything else for over a month now because of this one!

Another awesome Walmart find!

I really need to go to Walmart once in a while. I never do - apparently to my detriment.

Also, the 5600 series has a lot of modding options, right? Are you planning on modding it? I’ve gotten into gshocks only to mod them.

Not any time soon. Right now, I am just enjoying it in its amazing natural state!

I’m unreasonably fond of my 5610, which is all the excellent things about this plus solar charging and automatic atomic clock time sync. (But at like double the price.) Wish the band would allow the watch to lay flat, but really no complaints otherwise. Enjoy!

The 5600E is the watch that you really need, not the watch that you though that you wanted. I still keep mine as a backup.

·

Love a square!.. so comfortable, legible and modable.

·

You forgot to mention how it is eminently affordable too. 😀

Great pick up. I slept on G shock for along time and I honestly isn’t get why everyone raved about these 99 dollar watches until I got one myself. Now it’s a staple of my collection and probably sees more real life wrist time than my omega or Rolex

Soooo glad I decided to wise up!

As I posted recently, I still have my 5600E that I got back in the late 90s/early 00s. I've only changed the battery once, though admittedly, it did sit in a box for quite a few years. Its original resin strap fell apart with age, probably why it stayed in a box for so many years, and its bezel was cracked and falling to pieces as well. Just last week I got the replacement bezel and strap and can wear it again. In fact, I wore it this weekend while doing yard work. It has a younger brother in the form of the GMWB5000D-1JF to contend with now too.

·

For me, it started with a Mudmaster GG-100B-1A, then a Duro (3 of them 🙄), a MRW-200h, a A168w and now awaiting the arrival of the GW5610u.

Modding, hydro-modding and franken-modding these watches is great fun too.

The way I see it the DW5600 is the quintessential G-Shock. No G-Shock collection is complete without it and all G-Shock lovers should have one. It is great that you found it and loving it. Look into the many mods you can get for it for a personal touch and look.

You can never have too many G-Shocks. I've got 4 which I wear regularly but iv got 16 in my wish list...😍

Love the 5600E. It is one of my two battery powered G's. I have 6 solar, MB6 G's including my favorite the 5610. Cant go wrong with a g-shock or any Casio. Congrats on your first one!

Welcome to the ‘club’!

I know this is your post, but here’s favourite of mine:

So cool 😎 I’m just staring at a F91 the smallest brother in the family. Really that 80’s vibe and sooo much choice and bang for buck.

And there even seems to be a modding community. 🥹
