I believe it has taken some design cues from Grand Seiko with the hand set, and the general case looks to be inspired by some Rolex models. But in general, it doesn't seem to be a blatant rip off/Clomage of any particular watch

Yup. I've found that mechanical time pieces can sometimes be a hassle; I tend to walk on eggshells with my automatic watch because it's my largest purchase on a watch, and because they are generally known for being less durable than quartz watches.
