I believe it has taken some design cues from Grand Seiko with the hand set, and the general case looks to be inspired by some Rolex models. But in general, it doesn't seem to be a blatant rip off/Clomage of any particular watch
True. I'm not so worried about losing the watch, rather the initation of the confrontation. I'd rather not elicit any unwanted attention in the first place. But good point!
Yup. I've found that mechanical time pieces can sometimes be a hassle; I tend to walk on eggshells with my automatic watch because it's my largest purchase on a watch, and because they are generally known for being less durable than quartz watches. I started taking more care for it after I dropped it on my tile floor 🥲
