Best bracelet material - Your Thoughts

I prefer stainless steel because it's affordable yet hefty feeling. Yep, I'm a sucker for a heavy watch... what can I say?

I like it all. Different materials are fun.

Can’t weigh in. I Don’t own titanium or gold 😢

I tried titanium lately, and am in love.

I know some people associate heft/weight with quality. Personally, though, I feel the reverse... Shouldn't a watch strive always to be as light and thin (provided it still provides sufficient toughness for its purposes) as possible? Shouldn't lightness and comfort be the measures of quality (along with beauty, accuracy, reliability, and long lasting)?

This reminds me of cars v pick-up/SUV comparison. A lot of people (my parents included) have this gut feel of safety from the sheer weight of a large vehicle. And granted, if you are either playing a game of chicken on a single lane road or in a literal war zone with bullets flying, the amount of steel helps. But in 99.99% of the time, the size and weight are safety hazards! Heavy vehicles don't stop easily, and thus can fly off road easily. "Strong" (read: not crumbling in a crash) vehicles transmit all energy of the crash to their drivers. Large vehicles have giant blind spots and get disproportionally impacted by strong winds. Smaller, lighter, crumblier vehicles (provided they can go where you want them to go) are better.

So for cars, same for watches. Yes, a heavy watch feels like it's ready to take on the world. But it only takes on as much as its spec can... And its spec isn't necessarily better than a thinner, lighter watch. In fact, to obtain the same strength and water resistance, thinner watches require better materials and tolerance, and thus are of higher quality!

Long story short: titanium is awesome in watches and airplane.

I don't get the love for steel over titanium?

Got a Zelos Swordfish Ti recently, absolutely HATE it. Zero redeeming qualities, and I think the bracelet is just awful. (Think it's probably it's Zelos, had a Ti Tissot years ago and that was so much higher quality).

Titanium belongs on motorcycles and aircraft, not watches in my collection!
