Timex thoughts

I have always had a soft spot for Timex, but have also been very impressed with what they have been doing over the past decade or so. Curious what your thoughts are on Timex - Take it any direction you would like. Also like to see your thoughts on this particular Christmas present chrono.

Never owned a timex but some of their recent models like the timex marlin chrono panda and the waterbury reverse panda look stunning! I just ordered the waterbury reverse panda from Amazon to try it out. Might try the marlin when it comes in stock!

From “Peanuts”, to your favorite college team’s logo, to Expeditions, to Marlins and chronographs, Timex has really brought some interesting watches to market of late.

I like the colorway of the sub-dials on your watch which is reminiscent of a Zenith.

I am a fan of Timex…

Love what they still continue to do.

Im a fan. Good solid brand with the heritage other brands would die for. Not everyone is a winnner, but they take oppty and chances, and have the library and pedigree to lean back on. I own a handful of them and impressed by them. Keep it up👍🏼🇺🇸

Another Timex fan here!

I considered your chrono when it came out, but the date window placement was a deal breaker...😊

They make beautiful watches, the quality isn't always there, though

·

Ive always been a fan & they've really upped their game lately.

So many fantastic & affordable options too.

·

Lately Timex has been doing things that make me scratch my head, like a few obvious homage/ near ripoffs. But when they get it right they knock it out of the park.

·

Wow! For a moment, I thought I was looking at a ghastly Rolex OP with the color dots. This Timex does it way better lol! The brand is on the rise recently. Bravo 👌👏!

·

I like what they’ve been up to lately and hope they continue.

I love Timex and their history as well as new editions. Recently started collecting with an Expedition and vintage Electric Dynabeat.

I like their watches, but often the movement and seconds tick is too loud for me.

·

Love the bracelet bezel combo on the OP’s Chrono! Only thing I’d change is to lighten up the color palette on the sub dials. They’re a little too dark which hurts readability. Timex is killing it with their Q line. I picked up the Hodinkee edition and absolutely adore it.

I love Timex. They’re the reason I ever began loving watches. It’s what I saw in department stores, Walmart, jewelry repair stores - they’re everywhere. That said, they’re catalogue has become a bit messy. There’s a new release almost weekly and it adds to the clutter. I would love to see them pare down to a couple of lines - Expedition North, Q Timex, and Marlin. Flesh out the Expedition line as rough, rugged, and affordable. The Q line would be enthusiast-driven, like it is now, with improved movements (quartz and other). Then I’d like to see the Marlin become their top offering, like the Galli currently is, with a respectable movement and high-end materials.

Timex is already doing some of this, but it’s a bit watered down for my liking. A narrowed focus and more in-house production would make them a bit of a staple in my collection again.

I think you’re spot on. I’d also keep Easy Reader as a line with Indiglo and just keep the quality up.

After I posted I thought the same. Indiglo is certainly a hallmark of Timex and the Easy Readers, I’m sure, do very well in places like Target/Walmart.

I love this chrono by them

Pretty cool inexpensive watches. I found this one that I really like in their website

Love your chronograph and those little dial colors are amazing.

My first watch was a #timex and do love them. They have the best light system over any other watch brand I've seen. I think they get hate from people mostly because the old ones aren't seen as valuable in terms of $$$. I also think the Ironman has more merit than G-Shock due to standard Ironman watches being compared to G-Shocks, so the Ironman fights up in weight class. There are shock grade Ironman, but I seldom see them covered or compared like for like to G-Shock. I've also heard more military prefer Ironmans to the Gs because they're thinner profile, larger display, better light, cheaper cost, and comparable toughness in the field.

That being said, I do own a G and love it and have owned Ironmans in the past. I think both have their strengths and weaknesses. Overall I see Timex and #casio like the Nikon and Canon cameras of the watch world.

I like what Timex has been doing lately. I think the could use a little more QC on some of their lower end models, mainly in their second hand matching up with the indicators, but not uncommon across lower end watches. I'd also like to see them do a few updated variations on some of their existing models.

Classic 🔥

This is a handsome timepiece .

And deserves a spot on any collector's watch box .

·

I give Timex a pass because my father wore it. My first real watch was a Timex. They have been around longer than Rolex. They have been doing better with their offerings. I like their Marlin automatics.

My kids got me the Expedition Grid Shock for my 50th birthday. It is a tank.

My kids got me the Expedition Grid Shock for my 50th birthday. It is a tank.

I didn't think so as the lug to Lug is much smaller than its width so wears really snug & flat on the wrist with curved integrated strap... Unlike the G-Shock GX-56-BB now that's a Tank but super light & extremely comfortable so you just forget you even wearing it after 10 seconds 😁 #timex

I think timex is good value for money, especially when you can get a discount on a watch. I love that timex has various watch lines which cater to different people, such as the expedition series for those looking for something practical and durable for exploration or the Q Reissue series for those who love vintage pieces.

In terms of direction I really want to see Timex develop a dive watch which could potentially challenge the Orient Kamasu or Seiko dive series. I think it would be interesting to see what they could produce for a watch priced between £230 - £300. Some of the dive watches they do have are sized at 43mm which is too big for my wrist but I would like to see them make more dive watches sized at 40mm - 41mm. (I referring to modern style dive watches here as their vintage ones are sized smaller).

The Q Reissue series is my favourite because timex are reviving vintage watches from their archives. I can’t wait to see what will be released this year.

·

Don't get this one, I returned it. To me felt really cheap!

I have the PanAm Daydate and it's lovely. Gets a lot of attention when I wear it!

I think they've been making smart moves. Reintroducing the Q was one of the best things they've done in a while. However, I agree with a lot of folks that while their pieces look fantastic, the build quality just isn't on par with where other entry level watch brands are. Seiko, Citizen, Orient and others have great watches for just a bit more, and the quality for dollar is far superior than Timex

·

Never been a fan of Timex. But this one is so handsome!!

Timex is what got me into this in the first place. I've had a G-Shock for over a decade, but it didn't inspire me to go deeper.

On a whim, I grabbed the Draplin X Timex scout watch off of Draplin's site. Then I made the mistake of going to youtube to learn more about it. This brought me down the rabbit hole.

I don't really have a dress watch, and don't really have much occasion to wear one, so i was thinking that a timex do just fine in this department as well.

That’s awesome

They're an awesome brand! They make watches that appeal to collectors and casual buyers. They're a great brand to start out collecting and a great brand to collect your whole life. They even sent me watches and swag as a wedding present!
