Who's a fan of authentic military watches?

By "authentic" I mean watches that were commissioned by the government, manufactured to military specifications and actually issued to military personnel. I have a small collection of pieces like this.

This is the Marathon Navigator, developed in collaboration with Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas in 1986.

With its fibreshell case, the watch is super lightweight and I have it on a Marine Nationale elastic strap, making it the ideal sports watch.

I love it, it's my most worn watch since it arrived. Marathon make amazing and genuine military watches.

Not anywhere that has security...

Everyone just leaves their smart watch with their phone before going into a SCIF, but I would say easily 90% of service members I see wearing a watch are wearing some kind of smart watch. The remaining 10% will be mainly G Shocks and a very few wearing an analog watch.

Well your not wrong, but even you don't have a smart watch everyone is still walking around with a smart phone. Sadly, security is a thing of the past.

Fair, I see a lot as well.

That said, I also sea lot of more classic quartz analog watches. Might be environment though, I work in a HQ right now, so most people are older/more senior.

I got myself a #marathon for Christmas last year. Love everything about it! I think being Canadian, this is a must have piece in my collection. Saving up for the Arctic GSAR with a Maple Leaf clasp!

Looks great on that striped NATO!

This is a CWC reissue of the W10 they were producing and giving to British military personnel in 72 onwards. It’s an absolute beauty

Well, it works ( points north correctly). I think the Marathon compass is the most compact one out there. The compass bezel and the markers on the dial is also lumed. Lasts quite a while too. I'd say its a good purchase and it will fit all watches w up to 22mm normal thickness strap

·

Yeah, baby! This is in my collection, too. And probably my all time favorite.

·

I’ve been lucky to get a CWC from 1991, I wear it a lot.

There's also these from Prometheus Design Werx, and a few other small US survival types companies.

Pretty handy, and in my experience less likely to break off, YMMV or course..and they are a little bit pricier.

As a history nerd and enjoying military things, I do find such watches quite interesting.
