White Dial "Dressier" GADA Dilemma!

Cruncheri (?), I need your help.

I've decided, through rigorous internet browsing & skulking around forums, that my next watch purchase is going to be a white-dial hack at a GADA with a dressier leaning.

But therein lies the rub, who knew there were so many choices? (I know, we all did, focus!...). I've narrowed it down to these three, though I'm open to suggestions in the $1k-$2k range.

For context, this is going to round out a three core-watch ( because who can be so limited?) collection. The other two being a black dial Oris ProPilot Worldtimer, and a blue MN Tudor Pelagos FXD.

The string-puller behind the curtain is really the Omega Aquaterra in white, but that is for another time (and some serious wife-cajolling).

I know a lot of answers will be "do what you like". And I will, but I'd love to hear other opinions/ideas. Oh, and I reserve the right to buy a yellow-dial diver at any point in the conversation thank you very much.

So, brothers and sisters, at this intersect of import and consequence, what say you!?

I'm a CW fan, but I'd take the Formex over a Twelve. When I was considering this same question, I went with a C63.

Monta Noble is what I landed on for this exact same style watch.

Also a fan! Don't make this more difficult...

I've heard good things about most of Monta's range

I personally love the Formex. I think it’s super versatile, the case suspension system is neat, and the strap change system is a big plus. But I will say that I don’t think it’s nearly as dressy as the farer, it definitely is much more in the sports watch vein. With both the Oris and the FXD, I might go for the farer. Head says farer, heart says Formex.

·

I voted formex. I really want the white dial but I found too good of a deal on the blue version.

·

I own a CW Trident 300 in white and love it. However, of your three choices I’d go with the Formex. Super versatile. Dress up or down. And looks amazing.

·

I love the formex. I own one!

But stylistically it's quite toolish. All brushed bracelet, the suspension system, very angular in case shape. It's a fabulous GADA watch but perhaps less formal.

Of your choices, I'd choose the Farer or, if we're adding others, the Monta Noble (which does the business casual Datejust thing as well any watch out there).

How's legibility off the white- on- white? One of the compelling things(for me) of the Formex is the appearance of black/ dark hands against the white dial.

·

Essence is such a badass watch. I tried on all the Formex models at Windup last year and I absolutely love the 39mm in any color!

·

I’ve held both the Formex and the CW in the flesh at the DC watch show

Formex Essence >> CW Tweleve without a doubt.

I don’t feel the Farer fits the category here (but no hands on experience).

·

I like the Stanhope dial a lot but not sure about the cushion case. Here’s another white dial Farer to consider….

The formex looks the coolest from this lost and I saw a rewiew on mad watch collector, so Im pickin that.😄

And as far as yellow divers go:

I have the white essence, one of my favorite watches in the collection! Insanely comfortable and wearable in any occasion

·

Love the formex out of the 3 but would advocate for a 4th option: Sealander C63 white dial on bracelet.

Depends on your dress style.

CE Twelve is an integrated bracelet so really only one look. Farer Stanhope II does have a fitted (predominantly) high polished bracelet as well universal strap options. The Formex Essence probably had the most ‘universal’ options. All three are widly different in terms of style. In terms comfort, I’ve tried on all three (own the Farer) and they are supremely comfortable. I don’t think there’s ‘bad’ choice to be made here. Good luck in your decision!

Thanks! I agree they're all a bit different, and that was before someone suggested the Monta... spoiled for choice.

Formex for gada

Nomos Tangente in that price range, possibly used. Mostly, I wear it on business casual and up.

The GADA white dial worn most in my collection is the "The Citizen" a high accuracy quartz watch. Goes with just about anything and it always has the right time and date so its definitely grab and go.

The formex looks like a printer error with lines across the face na can't do that tbh .

·

I like the CW a lot but they are all definitely great looking watches

·

I really love the Farer, it would be my choice, personally. But I think the Formex will round out your three watch collection nicely. It’s the right blend of refinement with a touch of tool, like your Oris and Tudor.

·

I have to say I like my cw twelve and I only parted with it to get a new color green. Farer the world timer just didn’t work out. Formex seems to be sold out too quickly

I like Nomos' dials. I'm having trouble getting past their lugs though.

I'm trying to convince myself of the club campus, but it still has long lugs, and the Cali dial would be difficult to dress up (I think).

First world problems... *shrug

I'm tracking... honestly I want to like the Farer the most, but I'm unsure if the quirky dial would have staying power vs a more "boring" (classic) dial like the formex.

Heart vs head....

·

@S3k0j1 Lugs aren't a problem for me on the smaller sizes. For the Tangente, I went with the 35mm (6.75 wrist) and it looks fine to me. I'm not a fan of California dials but love the Club Sport, sadly no white dial.

·

I have a Formex Essence and love it. Recently bought a Twelve but returned it as I couldn't see myself wearing both.

·

@hgilson Yeah the only white dial I'm aware of is the Club 701 reference. But at 35(6?)mm I'm not sure if it'll fit my esthetic preference with a 7 1/4in wrist.

Honestly if it was closer to the 39-41mm range, I probably wouldn't have made this post because I already owned it.

FYI, Formex is very rarely sold out of Essence 39s. They almost always have all of the core colors in stock.

I love the Formex Essence. I’ve embraced that’s likely as close as I’ll get to owning a new Aqua Terra, hahahahaha. But the Farer is fantastic and iconic. You’ve got a difficult decision ahead of you!

Well maybe the green and meteorite are both limited edition
