One watch Vs many watches

This is a question I am sure just about every watch owner has gone back and forth with. Is it worth it to spend a lot of money for a watch as appose to spending a lesser amount and purchasing multiple watches. This has nothing to do with brands just a general question to see what the community thinks! Would you rather spend $2,000 on a watch or buy four watches for $500 each?

4 watches $500 each is what I am building towards currently. 2 watches down, 2 to go. I think just one watch would get a little boring, even if it is a $2000 one. I think 4 is the sweet spot where you can get enough variety to last a lifetime!

Very good that you have 2 down good luck on finding the next two purchases!

Hmmm… which watches you wanna get?…. I have some up for grabs 😜… for the right price 🥳

With 4 watches around 500 you can build a very solid collection for numerous occasions and never get bored

It would give you plenty of versatility!

I said $2000 because I want more than 4 total watches in my collection. Once I got the 4 (or 8) that retail around and below $500, I spent $2000 on a watch. In order to keep my collection under control (and put more time between buying), I try to really extend my budget on each purchase.

That doesn’t mean I won’t buy that Brew Chronograph I’ve been eyeing. 😜

I’d personally go $1000ish, $600ish, $300ish, $100ish. In no particular order, one quality mechanical watch, one dressy watch, one beater watch and one colorful, fun watch.

·

Four watches at $500 gives you a versatile value-oriented but high quality collection if you pick well. Won’t be high horology, but your collection will be ready for any occasion.

·

If your early into your collection your going to want more watches. Where I am after owning 30+ one Watch

I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve owned enough watches in the $500 range that now I have a one and done watch. Except for the few sentimental watches

Let me ck my inventory 😜… I’ll message you when I get home 🍻

This is a hard one. I love variety, but $2000 is enough to buy a single watch that could end the obsession permanently.

·

Yes it can. I figured it was a good price dynamic for the poll

I agree! His break down was spot on with watch collecting. It is a fluid hobby!

I'm going with 4 for $2000, because in reality, I think that a lot of $500 watches are way better than a lot of $2,000 watches. So actually I'm getting $8,000 of watches for the $2,000 watch in build quality and value proposition. 🤪🤔

·

Even when I’m trying to have lesser watches and to spend more Rhine with them, I can’t have just 1 watch

·

always quality over quantity for me.....especially with clothes and shoes/boots......yes, especially with shoes and boots.....but also with watches....and clothes....and, most important, did I mention shoes and boots?

It doesn´t mean that that more expensive watch needs to be the only one...

One for £2000, less is more - & I'm as shallow as a puddle 🤣

Smart answer, it also allows you to compare the quality of these watches.
