3 Watch Collection - Needs Completion

Short version: Help complete this three watch collection while staying in the assumed theme here.

Expanded: I have been interacting on here a while and I thought I'd see what other Watch Crunchers think about this collection. I've been a watch geek for over a decade now, collecting up to 20 watches. I've recently downsized to eight. Essentially I have two different "sets" if you will. Dress and tool watches.

I've had to get rid of a lot of good pieces. These two watches are keepers without a doubt. The SPB143 is a superb watch. It's a little chunky but it wears great on a rubber waffle strap or after market bracelet (currently on a Uncle Straps bracelet)

Image

I came across the Speedmaster in my local shop just browsing. I wasn't expecting to buy it but I've never seen this watch anywhere. Did some research and had to have it. It's 40mm, grey dial automation with date. Just like the Seiko I wish it were thinner. Overall an amazing watch. I never take it off the bracelet.

So what now? How you you complete this set? What third watch would you suggest for me?

The first thing that comes to mind is something by Fortis

·

Maybe something with a lighter dial to balance out the darker dials you have now? There are lots to choose from, but this one is not a diver or chronograph-

A dress watch. Not sure what your budget is though so I have no recommendations.

Good recommendation. I like diversity and something titanium would be sweet

Under $250 - Orient Bambino 38mm

Under $1000 - Hamilton Intramatic

Under $5000 - Cartier Santos Dumont Quartz

Grand Seiko if you like titanium. Got plenty of colors and case styles to choose from.

·

i think u should go for an everydaywatch like the tudor ranger

·

You need a Grand Seiko..

·

If you want to keep the grey/dark dials then a Longines Heritage Classic Sector would be an option. I absolutely love how it look and it could be a dressier option to complete the set.

·

The new 39mm Tudor pelagos in titanium.

I think you should add an Anonimo Epurato...great brand history...they were the original Panerai. When Richemont purchased Panerai, they fired everyone and basically took the patents, designs, etc. and had them manufactured in their existing factories.

All of the now unemployed Panerai employees formed a new watch company with the tongue-in-cheek name of Anonimo (anonymous in Italian).

You cannot call these homages to Panerai as the real Panerai design team are the ones who created these designs. Kind of like anything recorded by John Fogarty is essentially Creedence Clearwater Revival doesn't matter if he's using his own name...the sound, the songs, and the voice was his.

Here are a couple of Epuratos that could work in your collection...they can be worn as a dress watch, but are not your typical dress watch design...

Here are the studio shots that may show the designs to better effect...it's hard capturing these dials under bright lights...

You can find some really good deals for these on the secondary market (brand new grey market) as well as some good deals brand new with warranty. And it would be in a similar price range of your existing two.

Get a proper dress watch. Quartz Cartier Santos Dumont L or Tank Must L for its slimness. Cant think of any reasonably priced automatics..maybe one by Longines or even a Seiko cocktail time would do.

·

Nice Speedmaster. Something dressy like a Santos, Tank, Grand Seiko or De Ville is what I would be considering

·

You’ve got sea and air covered. How about a field watch so you’ll have land, sea, and air. Like the Vertex MC100.

·

Hamilton (murph is my preferred as the khaki fiekds are too "busy" for me)or a Seiko alpinist or an IWC pilot

·

The first watch that immediately sprang to mind is this Longines Spirit:

·

Cartier Santos or Rolex OP

·

Aqua Terra 👍🏻

I’d go for the CW 12 Ti.. adds colour to your collection. You can also add the Bel Canto, and all within your budget.

·

Ice blue PRX?

You have two tool watches. A Japanese diver and a Swiss Chrono. If I were you I'd be looking at a dressy/sporty type watch from Germany. Stowa Antea, Nomos Orion, Sinn Frankfurt, Tutima Saxon, etc.

·

@Meleon I've been looking at the CW Twelve, and it is really attractive. Especially the gray dial one. Thanks for the recommendation.

@Pallet_Fork the Longines Spirit line is gorgeous. It's quickly moving up to be one of my favorites.

@Icarium Thanks. Your suggestions are spot on. That Sinn 6060 would be a gorgeous addition. I've never seen that one so I'll look more into it. Just like @DukeMo suggested I like the idea of a Japan, Swiss, German trio. (although the CW maybe in the fight for English Design)

@Speedy77 I like the land, sea and air theme. I'll check it out.

It was a number of years ago. Anonimo was the first watch brand to popularize the use of bronze. It's documented history - you can look it up. Panerai copied them later and then took credit for using bronze first. That must have been a real poke in the eye for the Anonimo guys.

Being of Italian heritage, it was great to see an Italian brand based in Florence survive the acquisition. They are now based in Switzerland.

Really great watches and definitely a watch connoisseur brand.

Here are some others from my collection...

I’m thinking IWC pilot watch with brown leather band to mix up the color

·

I think a Sinn 556 would fit in your collection.

I have been considering the 556 mother of pearl. Good suggestion

How about Tudor GMT with the white dial?

Gives you a different functionality, is a white dial and the blue and red bezel gives a pop of color
