The Next Bond Watch ??

I would guess Omega will not be relinquishing the Bond franchise any time soon and while the Seamaster is a fine watch for the Commander lets step further into the world of make believe for a moment.

You are G, you have just started a new job at Mi6 in the gadget procurement Department and an email has popped into you inbox from Q.

0800 from: <Q@mi6/ukgov.com> to: <G@mi6/ukgov.com>

Morning G,

007 has somehow managed to destroy another watch and several of the other 00's are also complaining that have either lost theirs or also managed to break them somehow (I really wish they would take better care of their equipment).

Can you procure 9 new watches for the 00 program for issue by the end of the week.

Make sure they are are highly waterproof , robust and fit for all occasions.

M is also on my back about the budget again so lets keep the cost sensible on these , I will leave to your discretion.

Q

******************************************************************

So Crunchers , lets see what you would pick for the 00's and why. Could be something from your collection or maybe a piece you have your eye on.

I will start the ball rolling;

Pelagos 39.

Nice and light and fits under a cuff. The added bling of the sunburst dial and brushed bezel gives it a slightly less full on tool look which may be a plus for use with a Tux at a cocktail party.

00's come in all shapes and sizes so the 39mm case should be a good fit.

Pricing isn't so crazy so that M would raise an eyebrow and as luck would have it the Q Department has a drawer full of 21mm Natos they can finally make use of !!!

I agree 100% … must be a Tudor !

·

I think a GMT would be fitting so they can track UK time. I would say sbgn003 since it already has the 00 in the name.

Muhle Glasutte “search and rescue” with an Omega sticker on it ( the new sleeker smaller one with only 50 atm not the older bigger 100 atm one :) :)

I'm more interested in seeing what the next Bond villain will be wearing. Something like a vintage Patek Philippe would be pretty fitting or maybe a JLC Reverso.

·

It would be Christopher Wards if they ever change.

casiodean

It has to be the Casio Royale AE-1200WH. Not only because the next Bond is likely to be fully woke and will go broke so won't be able to afford much (especially as the British government has already spent all the taxpayers money on economic migrants or given it away to foreigners), and also because it's a nod the Seiko G757 Sports 100 worn by the worst Bond in the worst Bond movie ever.

Exactly what I’m thinking. After all, Bond keeps a spare Casio in his pocket to know what time it really is.

I'm going to put 2 different options up

  1. Something made of recycled sea plastic, solar powered, unisex size and in non binary colours . We're big into green issues here in the UK so something recycled and solar powered(even though sun is on short supply) and we don't know who or what future bonds are going to be, Thems, There's Thisses (along with the other 72 genders that are regularly discussed on breakfast tv) so maybe something like that timex surfers against sewage edition (big on that as well, up to or necks in it) eco drive,36mm in a puce pastel shade.

  2. As we are 70% owned by the Chinese and the film industry 90% I reckon a bit of fine Chinese horology, so a pagani design seamaster 300 copy, I'm mean HOMMAGE, not a copy HOMMAGE.

Can’t, it doesn’t have the helium escape valve to act as a detonator.

Give me back the good old pulsar watch

·

I'm going with CWC as they are UK made and issued to the SBS

Well I have to go with two British companies that I believe meet military standards. While the CWC diver on a strap might not be super elegant for the embassy mission, it will work great in the jungle and whole diving to reach Dr No secret hideout. The C65 from CW instead will be perfect during the high speed chase in the desert and while climbing a skyscraper in Hong Kong wearing a tuxedo. Also… just noticed… CWC and CW 😂

I remember in Tomorrow Never Dies (?), Michelle Yeoh shows Bond (Piers Brosnon) a Chinese copy of the Omega. Bond responds, "That looks familiar." Who knew it was prelude to the real world? 😂

When I see questions like these, I always give the same answer: G Shock! The watch that has adorned more wrists of the military than any other. And we should keep in mind, the military was one of the first to adopt quartz watches. (More accurate and super cheap? Done!)

·

I would order a 12 pack of FXDs and call it a day. Q can make a NATO strap that turns into a rope ladder and everybody’s happy.

·

Gotta be an Omega, personally I'd love to see a reissued 2254 😍

oh yea , would love to see the sword hands make a come back 👌 I have no doubt Omega will keep the license.

I believe omega will keep it going no matter when they do eventuality remake the bond movies but if they didn’t it would be wild to see rolex scoop it up and make bonds watch once again be the rolex submariner

I wouldn't be surprised to see the next Bond wearing a Hamilton , to me it would make sense. They are under the Swatch umbrella and being more affordable they would probably sell a boat load of them with some sort of Bond tie in.

That’s always a possibility Hamilton does like their movie tie ins but I feel they hold Bond to a higher level. They have featured some Longines on side characters before too so who knows

I came here to say this! Good choice.

I’d love to see a titanium ploprof, though it would be difficult to fit under a suit sleeve 😅
