Absolutely one of the stupidest trends I’ve ever seen, but then we’ve got Taylor Swift here so you know it’s got to be a ridiculously ignorant thing because she is. The “Swifty’s” are anything, but. In the words of Forrest Gump “Stupid is as stupid does!”

It’s definitely more like a costume and statement piece to my eyes. Whilst I’d love to see women’s watches and how they’re marketed diversify more, I’m not sure a watch that you can’t read, tied to your neck, will make anyone new want to buy a watch. Brands seem keen to put watches on the wrists of women through partnerships (eg Tudor with Lady Gaga, Omega with Cindy Crawford, Cartier with Deepika Padukone). I wish they’d involve them more in the design though. Breitling have Victoria Beckham on board now for some solid gold Chronomats, interesting that both she and David are marketing both sides of the same Kinessi movement coin!

I shall continue wearing one on my wrist. If I see someone at a restaurant or gas station or corner store wearing a watch around their neck I will avoid them. Deliberately and maybe even rudely…
