My Chronograph Sub-collection!

Just joined the site last night, and thought I should start showing the goods, this is what we're all here for after all, is it not?

Ordered in no particular way in the image, these are all of the watches in my box that have the chronograph complication -- my personal favorite.

From left to right we have...
Dan Henry 1939 - This was a gift from a family friend and watch collector himself. Another watch he's given me is what really kicked this whole interest into gear. I really like this little watch, only complaints are the mineral crystal (give me sapphire or acrylic, I'm good either way, but not mineral...) and the 24h subdial instead of something more useful like an hour totalizer or running seconds.

Pulsar 'something or other' chronograph 😂 - This is the watch I've had longer than anything else. It was a gift from a family member when I was single-digits years old, and is probably in part responsible for this sickn-- I mean hobby. When I was younger I was doing stupid things on a bicycle in stupid places and got hit by a car. I broke a few ribs, sprained an ankle, and spent a summer on crutches, but this little guy made it out with just roadburn on the crystal 😂. Otherwise, the hands are not remotely aligned, the bezel is actively terrible to turn, and I'll never part with it if I can help it.

Longines Avigation BigEye - Newest and most expensive purchase to date. Picked this up a few months ago at the culmination of a handful of big life changes, good and bad, to celebrate making it through. Love everything about this watch, just wish it had a display back. C'mon Longines if you're going to heat blue the column wheel let me see it! This watch has kickstarted a love for the brand and my Chrono24 saved searches are now filled with Longines models modern and vintage I'm on the lookout for.

Shoutout to Artisan Straps for the strap too, I've used it on this and other watches for nearly 2 years and it looks largely brand new and somehow continues to get more comfortable. Well worth the price.

Casio AE-1200WH - This is a chronograph, right... right? Every complication you could ever need for a price you almost feel bad paying it's so affordable 😂. Not much else to say, I like to wear this when I want to wear something different.

I find them to be a good value for what you get. Yes, "ItS a QuArtZ", but the dial finish is very good for the money and the QC seems to be very reliable. Don't believe I've ever heard mention of a bad watch being delivered. Only gripe is the strap that was included (at least with mine) was the lowest quality strap I'd ever seen. I took it off immediately, and ordered a new one on the spot lol. The watch head itself though, quite happy with!

Welcome? Forfeit the strap on the Longines at once 👀🥂

I can't forfeit it, it's glued to my wrist 4 days a week! But I did give the maker a shoutout!

It's this one 99% sure, with the optional customization of Flap-style stitching. It's not cheap, but holy moly the quality is superb. I've got nothing but good things to say about it!

I may have to get one of these instead of a new PRX!

Gold stitching it a little out-there for me, but you do you! You won't be disappointed, I'm sure.

Oh hey I see on your profile you're a flight instructor! That's awesome!

I've got about 350 hours in some GA aircraft in Microsoft Flight Sim 😀 Use my chrono's for dead reckoning navigation sometimes!

Thank you! They definitely come in handy when the G1000 gets too easy sometimes 😉

That bigeye is pretty fantastic; especially on that strap.

Oh dear, quite the advanced case of chronographidis, Dr. @whitesalmon. Do we get him into therapy or let him go on for now?

·

Welcome! And you are also 100% right about the Casio AE-1200: It's almost a crime not to own one, which is probably why I'm going to order one this weekend.

It's best to let Chronographidis run it's course.

Dan Henry's are great watches - great value for the money. I have several in the collection and all are incredibly well made and have been running for several years with no issues.

Excellent decision!

I was looking through the Vario emails a year ago and one of Ivan's contest winners had been really creative with Vario's bund straps developed for their WWI Trench watches...so I had to go out and buy a Casio AE-1200 because it looked so amazing on the bund strap...
