Are you really honest...

... about how many watches you have? 聽Does your partner, wife, husband, friend know the complete number? The answer will probably be 'yes' if you have three or four but my guess is that there are a number of watch persons out there who have a few more...

I have about 24...or something...but that's all I can say at the moment. 馃檮

Ha! 聽I love it!

Yes, my wife knows precisely how many watches I have. 聽But, I own practically NOTHING in the house. 聽Hell, the house is really hers too. 聽Every stick of furniture, every fixture, every appliance... 聽all her choices. 聽The yard and garden... hers too. 聽

I currently have 13 watches. 聽She, meanwhile, has over 1,000 books!

So, it's totally a fair trade, right?

Honesty is the best policy, followed closely by a paperless bill credit card that only I know about just in case the honesty thing has to take a break now and then! 馃槀聽

All of my "office supplies" are bought by the business and delivered to the business.

My wife has her own watch collection including Glashutte Original, Rolex, Chanel, Omega, Rado, etc. 聽She also likes digital watches and has the PSR, Computron, full metal G-Shock and a few others.

She has first right of refusal for any watch I bring home. She wore the Hulk for a few years until she got the GO SeaQ and gave it back to me. 聽She goes watch shopping with me and attends local watch group meets. 聽She shops for and picks her own watches to buy. She is happy to wind and set a different watch every day.聽

It鈥檚 a system that works for both of us. I don鈥檛 have to go far to have a discussion about watches. 聽I don鈥檛 have to hide purchases or explain why I want a new watch. 聽She already knows.聽

I have 40, none are individually worth more than $600. Most are half that and some are of significant family or sentimental value.聽

I'm planning on selling about 10 from the collection in the very near future.

My wife knows all about them but she doesn't have any interest in watches, sadly.

I have 4 watches and my wife has a vague idea about what I have spent on them but probably couldn't nail it down to a figure. I did have the usual 10 plus watches earlier in my collecting days but came to the conclusion that I need 2 good pieces so eventually that's where i got to. Then I realised I needed an unbreakable watch so added a G Shock. The 4th watch is usually an ebay buy that takes my interest and is inexpensive. I play with it for a while and then sell it on trying to make a small profit but not always succeeding

My wife totally supports my hobby 馃檶鈱! She knows about every watch I buy because I share my enthousiasm with her about why I am fond of that particular piece 馃槂. She will always give me her opinion...but I will always end up buying it 馃ぃ.

All my watches look the same to my wife, so I have been able to fly under the radar. Honestly, I don鈥檛 even know how many watches I have 馃槄. If you don鈥檛 know, you are not lying. 馃槀

If I don鈥檛 know how many I have then this kind of sets the tone. I鈥檝e posted this image before鈥 it鈥檚 got worse since then ( plus I think I鈥檝e added at least 5)

Honesty is a bit like eating 5 portions of fruit/veg per day; something I aspire to. I know Broccoli is better for me, and the right thing to do, but where's the danger in that... and danger makes me feel alive!! 馃ぃ

In fairness I've only ever bought one watch without saying anything. It was a Straton Curve Chrono, it was late at night and I was seduced by the "shiny". I was rumbled when the watch was stolen en route. I was outraged on opening the empty box and complained bitterly to her that the watch I bought has been stolen by someone in the delivery company... for her to say "You bought a watch? What watch?" Oops.

On the stolen thing... I have to say that Straton were fantastic. @KyleSchut himself worked with me to resolve and I got a replacement watch a week or two later. Brilliant service and a very cool watch 馃憦聽

My watch collection is quite small, but my girlfriend seems to think I have so many! That's because I rotate the pieces I wear whenever I see her, and I change the straps every single time. 馃槣 She does know I started my watch collection, and she's fine by it, because she has her own stuff she collects -- plants, dresses. She's a one watch gal.... it's the Seiko I got her for Christmas. 馃槈 She regularly sends me selfies showing off the watch.馃槑聽

My wife just asked me last night, how many watch bands do I have. I laughed and said, "hey, they're cheaper than the watches." She knows there are more watches to come. We just don't talk about our purchases.聽

By the way, I'm at 25. The watch box my wife bought me, holds 36. Sooo....

My wife's interest in my watch collection can be summarized as follows:

  1. 聽Sees ad for Rolex Submariner - Wife: "Hey, don't you have that watch?" Me: "No, I have a few Citizen dive watches." Wife: "Why don't you get this one?" Me: "..."
  2. 聽Sees picture of a Rolex Daytona - Wife: 鈥滺ey, I got you that watch for your birthday!" Me: "No, you bought me an Omega Speedmaster..." Wife: "Oh, they look the same."

Sweet Jesus, this is the best policy ever! Respect to your wife. Gonna see what my husband thinks of that one 馃槅

Before I was into watches I know my husband was buying stuff on the sly and getting it sent to work. I never noticed or cared about watches at the time so was oblivious to what was on his wrist.聽

Fast forward several years and it STILL happens that he'll bring out a new watch I haven't see before and when I ask about it he'll be all like "oh I've had this one for years....". Now what I don't know is if this is him slowly revealing his secret watch collection so that he can wear them again (since I now notice every watch he wears) or if it's him buying new watches....

Ultimately, we both have our own money and we can do what we like with it.... and he doesn't know about my collection yet...

I've heard of a walk in wardrobe... but you have a walk in watch box!!!
