What would you choose? Motorsport-inspired Chronographs

If you were looking for a motorsport-inspired chronograph, what would you choose?

Feel free to discuss why you chose that watch and if you have had any experience with it.

If this is successful, this will be the first post in a "What would you choose?" series where you can recommend watchs within interesting parameters (price, style, function, etc.)

Its gotta be the Tag Heuer Monaco one of the watches i need to own one day. I know someone who owns one and its his one and only watch and i can see why, such an iconic and beautiful piece, depending on the lighting the watch changes completely but always looks cracking 💙

I don't know if it falls into the motorsport inspired but, my choice would be the Tudor Big Block from the late 90's early 2000's, it's all about the nostalgia, I was born in 1984, the 90's were so good for me as a child, plus if I could get the 12 hour bezel that second time zone feature could be very useful

Some cool choices that are not the Daytona (the easiest choice)

I recently picked up a Depancel Allure Manual Chronograph and love their whole racing inspired aesthetic.

Chopard Mille Miglia. Chopard is the sponsor of many automotive event and this Mille Miglia is a titanium case with a rubber strap with Pirelli tire tread pattern from 1958.

Yema rally graf - Mario Andretti wore one, wish it wasn’t a mecha quartz….

Any tag, I remember seeing adds back in the 90s and early 2000s with 911s in the ads… my brain will forever associate tag and the logo with motorsports.

Daytona. Name says it all.

·

For motorsports chronographs it’s hard to argue with the Speedmaster, Carrera, Monaco, and Daytona as THE racing watches. The Speedmaster and Carrera are my two favorites of them all.

·
Scrambler

Daytona. Name says it all.

It’s also in the Speedmaster name, which came out almost a decade before the Daytona did 😁

I'm simple, love my Timex Marlin Chrono or Waterbury

Nice #baltic wear it well 👌🏻

I recommend the Tag Heuer 2000. Mine is quartz, but it is capable of tracking down to 1/10 of a second (in addition to hour/min/sec), which I think is crucial for tracking hot laps. If you're tracking lap times between cars in similar power/set up ranges, everything could come down to 1/10 of a sec. In case of endurance races, the hour tracking function could also be of use.

There are many color variations of this watch, so I'm sure there is one for everyone.

I throw in my Seiko Speedtimer and my Dan Henry 1964.

·

Rolex Daytona or Tag Heuer Monaco

·

Probably the Autodromo Group B or Group C, Baltic Peter Otto edition, Porsche Design Chronograph 1

Nice choice! 79270 is also my dream watch. To me, it is literally the perfect watch.
