Swag... what the &%$# am I supposed to do with this?

Hey all,

Quick question for you:  If your dealer sends you watch swag, what the hell do you end up doing with it?

Went on a recent irresponsible buying spree from GS, and the dealer sent me all this stuff.  I mean, I know it's churlish to complain about getting free stuff, but what in the world am I gonna actually do with it?

  1.  Branded t-shirt - I already got t-shirts!
  2.  Branded water bottle - I don't drink water!
  3.  Tie clip - Who wears ties anymore???
  4.  Nylon strap - Admittedly, pretty cool.  But, I don't see myself ever taking the bracelet off my SBGJ255 to swap in a strap.  I mean, why swap out a titanium bracelet for some nylon?
  5.  Tile - Hand painted, hand fired... tile.  Admittedly, pretty cool.  But, what do you do with a...  tile?

What do you do with your stuff?  And any ideas for what to do with this stuff?

Seriously - if it's not your thing, sell it to a fellow collector. I know people who would get in line for swag like that.

·

Send it down to me at : Post Office Box free stuff, Auckland, New Zealand.😃

·

I volunteer to take it off your hands 🤣

·

I got a red hat from Omega. Make horology great again

·

Keep the bottle. Stay hydrated.

·

You are the king of GS swag - I love my GS hat!

I'm sure somebody will want it. I have received a lot of this stuff over the years, particularly at trade shows. Most of my workout t-shirts are from charitable events. I actually end up using water bottles, but if there are too many, they will go at the right price at a yard sale. The watch band I'll keep, you never know when you'll need a watch band.

The thing I have no idea of how to use is the tie pin. Nobody would likely want to wear it unless they work for Grand Seiko.

Overall, sending you these items were a nice gesture.

Ok heres my thoughts:
-Water bottle.. I mean you should hydrate at some point
-Strap, maybe sell it cheap to someone here I mean like for $20-30
-Tie Clip - Sell it or use it a Chip Clip...?
-tile - Use it as a coaster at your work desk?
-Shirt - Bin it, sell it, donate it. Use it clean your car?

I know people are going to give you crap for this post but I totally get where you are coming from.  I am in the aviation industry and do several trade shows a year.   Vendors will come by the show me their latest and greatest product in the hopes that we will sell it, and give me the most random crap.  There is a usually a pretty decent sized box of crappy hats, pens that dont work, dim flashlights, paper thin tshirts, etc etc, that we just trash at the end of the show.  That being said, I'd use the shirt and strap.

You make it to Oshkosh this last year?

Oh yea, every year.  Our name is on a hangar there and Sun and Fun.

·

Dump all that stuff in a box wait 20 years and everybody who wants retro kitsch stuff will buy it off you…. Or just give it to the thrift store……..

Well I’ll be. We should chat. My work sends a group there every year as well, and I definitely got caught in that Midwest typhoon.

Oh nice.  I am with Spruce.  The Oris Airstream was outside of our hangar last year, I am sure I annoyed them popping in every few hours to look at something else. Haha.

The water bottle was obviously the dealer seeing that you don't drink water and being concerned for your hydration health. 🤣

·

Sell them to me, what do you want for them?

Serious!...Love Swag.

What do I want?  Meaning in my life.  Maybe a dash of optimism?  A couple of ounces of youthful energy?

If you're in the U.S., I'm happy to ship.  Will PM you.

·

I'll take that shirt off you, thanks!

·

I dig the strap

I am the sort of person who would remove the titanium bracelet for a strap, preferably rubber straps lol. Thats how i wear my snowflake 😘

·

Okay, gang, I've PM'ed y'all who wanted the swag.  Just to be clear, only looking for karma points, so if you can cover the UPS shipping, then we're all good.  Enjoy the stuff!

·

The strap is cool, everything else would potentially harm our ocean 😂, don't let the Oris guys know this.

·

Dude! Just stumbled across this post in the archives and that stuff is f*cking awesome! Do you have any of it left cos if you do ill take it off your hands just name your price

Ha!  Dude, I do still have swag.  But, I'm going to be including stuff in each of my charity auctions - to serve as an incentive to goose the bids!
