What's the Best Everyday (Mechanical) Watch?

If you could have one MECHANICAL watch for all occasions from casual to dressy. What would be your choice? Ruling out divers with rotating bezels. Needs a screw down crown for WR so most chronos are out 🤔

No divers or chronos?! I’m out. 😁

·

Haha, gotta make the criteria tight, else too many choices 😉. Sinn has some contenders!

There are a lot of good choices but I know that I need to pick one.  I will go with the Lange Odysseus in white gold case then.  There are a rubber strap and a leather strap from Lange which may be used to match different occasions.  It comes with a newly developed movement and the production volume is tight.  It is likely to become a new classic in the future and the elegant design will not go out of style.

My go to right now is the Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto 40mm Blue dial. Classy enough for a business suit workday, slick enough for a blazer and jeans, and casual enough for a weekend BBQ.

for me, it'd be a toss up between the full ss santos and the 39mm exp1

·

My Lorier Falcon II I think fits the bill. It's casual enough that I don't have to worry about it being a large presence and also because I don't have to worry about babying it. I wear at times when I exercise. Whether its at the gym, for a swim, or for a run or hike - it's a low-profile watch. I wore it on my first flight for my private pilot's license training.

On the other hand, the waffle-dial, gilt/black combination, and domed acrylic crystal make it more so a watch that doesn't feel out of place it a dressier setting. I put it on an aftermarket rivet bracelet for that full vintage feel.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing the photos!  Your photos reminded me that the day/date functions are useful for daily wear :)

·

What a nice spread in price points 😆. From Lange to Hamilton to microbrand.

Agree with all of the above!!  We have to remember that a lot of "normal" people just want one watch!

Rolex GMT Master 116710BLNR.

Dressy yet sporty, with screw down crown 100M WR, GMT Function, Date, Ceramic turning Bezel. Not Flashy yet with a fun dash of colour. If i could only have one watch this would be the one.

I think the Seiko 5 SRPE57 fits the bill quite well! I bought this for my friend as a wedding gift. His work usually has him wearing dress shirts so I picked something that wouldn't be too out of place underneath a cuff.

As mentioned above, a day/date indicator can be quite handy. Only thing that would elevate it even further as a daily would be some type of quick-adjust for the bracelet.

Omega Aquaterra. Looks good on all occasions, screw down crown, and I believe it also has the "jump hour" feature for quick adjustments when traveling between time zones. A true GADA.

·

Explorer 124270 for me!

·

My new Alpinist fits the bill for me. Champaign dial, polished bezel - tool watch with class.

Enjoy my Seiko Land Compass.

I mean, I hate to be the guy, but at the end of the day a simple silver or rhodium stick dialed Datejust in steel ticks all of the boxes, no? Something like an AT just has that slight bit of sportiness you can‘t fully shake when you suit up (love Bond, but I’m not OHMSS), and I can’t bring myself to call an integrated bracelet watch PP/AP/GP (or the like) or a chronograph an “all-arounder“ 🤷‍♂️

·

P.S. the Aquanaut seems to work pretty well for Sir Paul.

·

Best everyday watch could be a simple Oyster Perpetual. It isn't the most popular Rolex model but it certainly fits most occasions. Over the last couple years, there have been many variations and dial colors which means there is an OP out there for everyone. Its classy, simple, and all you need.

Bit late to this party, heres my take 🤟🏻

Damasko DA35

I dont really believe in 'everyday' watches - feels like to muck like accepting mediocrity - but I think the germans do this best.  I'd be looking at a Sinn or a Damasko or what I went for, a Muhle Glashutte.(Image failed to load!)

·

I am not sure if this model has screw down crown, but my choice would be Rolex Airking 14010 black.

How about a Sinn 144 GMT.

WR200m

GMT - double 12 hr hand.

·

Sinn 556i - RS

·

Milus Snow Star. Screw-down crown is a pain in the arse and is pointless if one isn't diving.

SNK809 if on a budget (nobody is diving deeper than 30 m every day).

·

I'd have to say an Omega Aqua Terra, one of the last 2 iterations specifically.

The heightened anti-magnetism, METAS certification, solid water resistance, it's good in dressy or casual situations, 50+ hour power reserve, etc. It's the clear choice in my book if you aren't on a tight budget.

My choice would be a Sinn 836 ( a grail watch for me) or a Railmaster 57 reissue Omega

·

Omega AT, and I can do without the small seconds...

·

Both the Aqua Terra small seconds and the Explorer 124270 are hard to beat… I’d give a close-but-not quite to the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date (screw down crown and can be dressed up or down, but only 50m of water resistance, though that should really be plenty) and the Omega Constellation Globemaster 39mm in stainless (130.30.39.21.03.001)… But that one has 100m of water resistance with no screw-down crown. I’d take the Explorer as #1, but just by a little over the AT.

·

Explorer 39mm. Perfect for every situation. For casual summer times I switch to nato or Artem sailcloth.

·

Omega Aqua Terra gets my vote!!

r/PrideAndPinion - First evening with the new Omega.
