Five years with the explorer and I estimate there have been less than 30 days that I have worn something else. I had wanted a Speedy for a long time so after getting a used one I do occasionally wear that on weekends. And a seiko diver or Gshock sometimes gets a few days for hiking trip
Explorer owner and lover here. It is my daily almost 24/7 but honestly any watch with decent WR will be fine. Making it quartz or better yet digital makes it more robust. My last two week long hiking or bike trips have had a g shock and seiko spb143 as the watch. There’s no doubt the Rolex would have been fine, but a Rolex on bracelet just gives kind of a different vibe that I’m not sure I want when surrounded by non watch people. May pop it on a nato though for an upcoming trip.
