GOAT

Even though tastes change during our lives, there is always something that remains with you. So what is your GOAT watch, whether you own it or not is irrelevant, cost is irrelevant as is the brand.

For me it is The Panerai Radiomir. I first saw this watch on the wrist of an Italian Marine of the 1st SMR back in the 1980s during a NATO exercise and it blew my mind, and I was never able to get it out of my head. Fortunately I have been able to own a couple over the years, and still own one now. For me this will always remain my GOAT.

I guess I have a goat complication (chain & fusee) and not many brands make them. A. Lange & Sohne makes one but hides it behind the dial. The Zenith is the watch in my avatar which is open at the top half of the dial in order to see it. Breguet hides too much of the movement behind their small dial. So I would have to say the GOAT in this category goes to Romain Gauthier's Logical One.

A dream and only a dream lol

Cheers!

Stunning piece.

I’ll probably get criticized for not having a specific reference number memorized;

My absolute top pick is a Tudor Day/Date 36mm , smooth bezel. The ones with the ETA.

I’m not a Rolex fan and I hate admitting this but it has to be the Rolex Oyster Perpetual for me. I wouldn’t buy it if I got the money but if it’s good enough for mah boy Ernie it’s good enough for me

Rolex (Pepsi) GMT Master II

There’s no story attached for me. It’s just a fxxxing cool watch. And I’d wear it pretty much everyday if/when I get one.

Has to be my Rolex Explorer. My first Rolex. This has been strapped to my wrist for our exploring around Italy, its the one watch that will be definitely in the collection at the end. Its the watch going to my oldest son when I let them go. A keeper

A fcuking cool watch is exactly the way you should see your GOAT 🤝👌

Another Panerista here, for me it's the Radiomir 183. Bold yet elegant, simple yet quirky.

That is a stunning piece. Not really my thing, but this 🔥

I 2nd @Mastiff . The Explorer 1 is never out of place.

I have a soft spot for a perpetual calendars. And the one I love the most is Vacheron Constantin overseas ultra-thin in gold with blue lacquered dial. It is a stunning piece I probably will never acquire. But it is nice to dream about it.

Yep it’s one of my birthday cakes my daughter made me, but I guess you know where I’m going for my GOAT

Tough call… should a GOAT be about preferences or performance? Does heritage come into play? Is it down to the most complicated or highly decorated. Patek would be my GOAT brand. There’s no model in particular and frankly while I’d love to own one there’s no specific model I pine for. But if you’ve ever stood in a room full of Patek watches, you’ll understand the artistry. You are among greatness.

As for a model, despite logical ways to approach the question I will go with my ultimate grail:

The Blancpain 50 fathom quatiem complete with moonphase

Superb choice sir 🤝

Gotta be the Speedmaster. Head & shoulders above anything else in terms of achievement.

Wouldn't want one myself tho, I'll stick with my Seamaster .... ( Automatic, sapphire and no date)

Incredibly fortunate to get the call for the Sub a week ago, and it goes along with my Speedy Pro from 2019 as my "GOATS".

I absolutely get that. The history etc is second to none. It was a watch I wanted for years and then I handled it 😭 It just felt wrong, in such away that I have no reasonable explanation. However, every time I see it, it’s just 😍
