Busy dials!

On what kind of watch do you like busy dials the most?

Personally i prefer simple dials but on GMTs and Chronographs i also like the to be a bit more busy.

What about you?

For example on this OrientStar GMT i actually don't mind the power reserve indicator which i usually don't like

Okay in with Chronographs, GMT, Worldtimer, and Milspec dials with dial 12/24 hour rings. So I suppose in most cases, but not all. Totally subjective for me.

I like variety, so I have some busy and some very plain dials. I don't go as far as Breitling busy, but then I'm kinda envious of a friend's Citizen Nighthawk, so maybe something for the future.

I'm ok with a busier chronograph, but I still want clear simple legibility on my GMT

Ha! I like "Breitling busy", everyone knows what that is. 😂

There’s a Citizen which seems to have everything on it all at once! Every font, every size, loads of lcd displays, busier than that famous road crossing in Tokyo.

I had to dig a pic out. Bloody terrible IMHO! 🤣

I think saying "I only love X on Y watches" is self-limiting. Depends on the watch, and the execution.

·

Personally am not a fan of busy dials, one of the reasons that whilst I think divers, gmt and chronos look dope, I don't own any

·

For me it just depends on the watch. I'm not really a fan of watches with a subsecond dial. With other complications I normally like it. But again It all comes down to execution. For example if it has a round case with square subdials 99% of the time I don't like that.

This is a great question/poll. If you would have posted this on Friday night you would probably have 100 comments by now. 💯🤝

I like simple dials with character. Think, the Aqua Terra. I don't like the Christopher Ward Twelve, that feels just a bit too busy for me. I typically don't like chronographs as they are typically tougher to read, unless the sub-registers are the same, or a similar color like the Speedmaster or a Breitling Chronomat.

At the same time, a dial that is too simple, like the Oyster Perpetual (in most standard colors) does nothing for me. So I answered D.

If I can’t tell the time on mushrooms, I’ve got no use for it.

Depends on how the business looks. That watch is cool!
