Confidence, bravado and sayonara

It has been quite a journey with watches, i’ve owned some great hype pieces, silent sleepers, fragile vintages and tech forward watches but both my heart and brain, and especially my wallet, have settled for this 4.

Took me 5 years to know that I do not prefer;

  1. 36 mm and below or 43mm and above on my 6.5 inch wrist

  2. red accent watches

  3. steel and Titanium bracelets

  4. circular hour markers

  5. luxury sport watches

  6. shiny dials

  7. below 10mm thin

  8. vintage watches

  9. GMT

  10. fleigers

And that I prefer;

  1. shiny cases

  2. rubber

  3. accuracy

Sure you can argue that the Tank is below 10mm, or that the FXD isn’t shiny, or that the FOIS is vintage inspired, but these are superseded by the feeling of wearing them - it’s unexplainable;

and that’s the most important thing: what you feel.

Long have i prowl through forums and endless videos but at the end of the day, there’s no point of owning a luxurious concept of a watch if it does not pull your heart strings.

What comes next? Probably an Alpine Eagle, Ellipse, heck it could even be a Seiko 6159 or Gshock GMW-B5000 or something I hate, like a Rolex GMT pepsi - i dont know! But what I do know is i’m going to enjoy these 4 for a while, and call it a day.. somewhat.

Pretty awesome to know so much and have the option to be discerning about what comes next. Powerful stuff.

·

That is quite the formidable four!!🤙🎯

·

Powerful line up 💪 - nice! What band is on the winter? Is that rubber? I seem to gradually be putting all watches on leather and rubber as well. A beautiful light Ti watch on leather is so easy to love.

·

Nice to go through and appreciate your distillation for the watches left are what you really really want . A good choice of four great watches!

·

What a realization 👌

·

Very nice 4pc collection, all stunning choices 👌

·

Very nice collection

Lovely collection mate, you're the first other person that doesn't like round indices! Hate 'em too.

Awkward, but I don't think you need owt else - maybe a high complication or GShock, but I suspect that neither appeals. ... 😍👍🏻👍🏻

·

I concur with others that’s a solid and very strong foursome.

·

It’s such an epiphany once you have realized what works for you. I commend that and envy in a way seems peaceful at least for me …. Congrats and such a lovely collection 🥂 I hope I will be there soon as I constantly look for what works for me…

Beautiful collection.

Nice collection. Seems we have similar taste, mostly down to watches that serve a purpose (even if part of that includes pulling at the heart strings). Dress, every day, Chrono, diver, all those categories that fit into lifestyles. It’s great to distill the collection down to 4-5, and instead of focusing on GADA style watches, that all sort of overlap, you get diversity in the collection.

Like a tight knit family; everyone has a purpose. No one shouting above each other nor being overshadowed. Just working in tandem with life itself

Great line up. Some excellent 3rd party straps on em too. Really like the suede and style

Peace in this hobby is difficult and costly. I am glad you've found it, at least for a time.

And if you fall off the wagon, and an Alpine Eagle should show up (salmon dial FTW) that's nothing to beat yourself up over 😉

Buying a watch is also buying more time for the next piece, we’re never truly done 🤪

And a watch with an integrated bracelet, in 41mm and a vibrant colour is truly what’s missing from my collection 👏🏻

I aspire to this: pure, simple, perfect. Great inspiration, and another thumbs-down from me on circular hour markers.
