Which is the watch that represent you or that people associate to you?

After reading "A man and his watch" I would like to collect here in the comments your stories and/or to know which is YOUR watch, the one that represent you or that people associate you!

Image

My watch watch is the Rolex Explorer, I received it for my master degree graduation, and since then has been with me always. I love it in every way, the case the dial, the simplicity, the elegance and sportiness, I just like it in every aspect, but what makes it special is that it was given to me from the most important persons, my family 👪.

Post in the comment your story and a picture of you with the watch, I would like to know better you watch crunchers other than your watches!

I would have to say that the watch that represents me would be Brown Lump, my 1977 Citizen CQ Solar Cell.

Image

A bit awkward, a bit ugly, a bit beat up, certainly a bit divisive, but also interesting, eye-catching, and rare. This watch is from a brand with a rich heritage of innovation, and that is one of my favorite brands, and further represents my belief that digital watches have a place in watch collecting and are an important piece of horological history. This watch represents an early attempt at solar power from Citizen and predates Eco-Drive technology. It is also one of the watches in my collection that draws interest from both watch nerds and from people not obsessed with watches. Finally, this is the watch that got its nickname from my wife. "That looks like a brown lump of $#!+ on your wrist! It's hideous!" 🤣

great watch, one of the best divers!

I rarely wear my Breitling 48mm Super Avenger since I am mostly retired but it was my talisman watch when I was still doing the daily grind wearing dark suits each working day. I have attempted to gift my watch to my son in law but does not suit him. I am thinking that it might be perfect for one of my nephews who is too in love with his vintage Rolex Sea Dweller. I will continue to collect and wear timepieces including Breitling for as long as I can enjoy them.

Nice big chunck of steel! This is a true men watch!

·

A 62 year old obsolete, tarnished, scratched up pocket watch with a stem and crown that fell off due to lack of use.

Only a couple of my co-workers and my GF know that I'm into watches and I doubt that they associate me with any particular watch to tell you the truth ... I'm fully aware that most "civilians" don't give a shit about wristwatches even if they do wear one themselves! 😮 LOL!!

As for which of my modest collection most represents me? Hard to say as I have a variety of interests and, some would say, somewhat of an "eclectic" personality 😉

So after thinking about it while typing this reply, maybe these three represent me best:

Image

My Pagani Design "Speedmaster" homage. I been a space / aviation / sci fi buff since young childhood; which was 5+ decades ago!

Image

My Casio Edifice EFR-526 Chronograph. I'm a motorcyclist, so I guess this one kinda has that 70's-ish motorsports vibe goin' on 😀

Image

My Orient Mako II. Love the laid-back vibes of this one ... which I guess kinda represents my more casual side!

I think most of the people close to me, would probably associate me with this watch. I wore it nearly every day for close to 4 years in my late 20s. It doesn’t get much wrist time anymore, but it still evokes some great memories when I put it on. And (assuming it’s still ticking) it’ll be my son’s on his 13th birthday.

I have to say that also the Citizen is very good looking, the Lorier is pure class!

·

My Submariner. It felt like a special watch when I first tried it on then a few years later I was lucky enough to get one.

Probably a tie between my Casio Duro and my Seiko SNKP21J1. Both are my most complimented watches.

Hmmm, not sure if it represents me, but these 3 all represent very important aspects of my life and I will never part with any of these.

what a nice collection!

Tissot Woodwatch. At least it has the longest history in regard to "A Man and His Watch" and I bought it not only because I liked it but also because I wanted to set a statement.

Now, if I listen to my family, friends and colleagues I will have to admit that they see in one of my most recent purchases an expression of personality. Interestingly I like to wear this watch much more than I expected. This is the only one in my collection to which people react. Maybe not only because it is shiny but because there is a sort of link in place. So there might be kind of convergence.

Yet there is one more watch that seemed to have matched immediately, at least according to my sons and daughter.

Though I adore craftsmanship and mechanical movements, if it comes to what I want, I will walk along the solar quartz path by decision. A mechanical movement wouldn't connect to me but would be more something for the showcase.Indeed I set out to get an automatic watch a few times, but I endet up coming home with a solar watch 🙈. Maybe I tend more towards light and future than enjoying gravity and past 🤷🏻‍♂️.

the only thing that matters is that you like quartz solare watches, you are more unique between unique and strange people, ahahhaah! Interesting pieces anyway!

what a nice collection!

Thanks brother. Appreciate it.

The watch that is the most dearest to me it's my Yema Navigraph GMT Marine Nationale, the one with the most memories and the one I had on when my fiancé said yes (I took a picture the next day when I had a Longines on).

Image

The one that she says it's the most me it's the Spinnaker Boettger.

She remembers the day that I had it in my hand, apparently it was the way I looked when I opened that box.

The first I will never sell and the second I'm not allowed to sell.

I can't say there is one watch that represents me. I think it's more like always having a watch on. A co-worker was stunned to see my wrist after I broke a watch strap. They couldn't believe the tan lines in place of the watch. But there are 2 things people know I'll have....a watch and at least 1 knife (I usually have 2 or more). They don't ask, "do you have time", it's, "what's the time".

A Speedmaster for me as well. After many years of collecting early aviation and NASA artifacts my better half gifted me the "moon watch". She intended it more as a space exploration gift but unwittingly sparked a severe case of wrist mania.

Image

BTW my Speedy has been noticed by "normies" in the wild more times than all my other watches combined.

·

I’d have to say my Skyflake. I love that it’s elegant, sporty, and practical all at the same time. Plus it was my first big luxury watch purchase, and a slightly belated 40th birthday gift for myself. Not to mention that dial…..

I know normies dont pay attention to watches but that is why watch events are good and when you find one watch nerd in the wild we easilly start a delightfull conversation!

My poor wife has had to endure me droning on with a stranger about watches more times than she should have to.😅

My Sports 150. I bought it my 2nd year of college with hard-earned money I made working at the radio station. It will forever be with me.

I wore an SKX013 almost every day for 8 years. Up until 2018, even as pricier watches came and went, it was definitely that tough little Seiko. In the last 5 years I have shaken it up a lot and have landed with the BB58 Navy and Sinn U50 as the go-tos. The differences between the two make me appreciate the other even more. Maybe with time I’ll settle into wearing one more. For now, I’m not sure which one!
