Question for a milestone watch.

So I have a little milestone that may be coming up soon. My YouTube channel (again, not related to watches. Look up legalkimchi, you'll se it.) is close to hitting 10k subs. As a celebration, I was thinking of getting a watch to mark this. I was looking at a cost around $1k. These two watches are at the top of my list. They are 1) at the right price and 2) allow engraving.

Thoughts from the crunchers?

First - congrats! That’s amazing.

Second - I’m all in on CW. I absolutely love mine. I think they are tops in that price range.

·

I love my CW so have to recommend that brand!

Farer is much more unique looking!

·

I like myself some CW, but that one is a little too close to a EXII for my liking. Farer for the win here just on originality.

·

Farer

·

Personally the bezel for me on the CW is too narrow It just trys too hard to be all things to everyone but ended up looking like the UN wanted love child of a GS and Exp 2 so on this basis Farer for the win

·

I think the CW is definitely the better option. You're getting a SW330, and a very well made watch with a timeless design.

The Farer seems a bit more "marmite", and I suspect will look "dated" in a short time.

·

Farer. More original. CW make some much nicer less homagey watches but they're much more pricey.

·

I absolutely love both choices but love the reason why even more!

I don’t think you can go wrong either way - meaning is always more important IMO.

Looking forward to seeing what you end up choosing and seeing some wrist shots!!

Btw I just subscribed to the channel 👊🏼

I like both a lot but I’m a big CW fan. The new Atoll is what I’d look at

Agree with this completely. They are both really solid choices, and I have looked at Farer hard when I was looking for something unique and with some color/energy. They are both pretty different as far as style, so it really comes down to which one do you see wearing the most?

From personal experience, I had a GMT for a while (since I felt like I should have one in the watch box). I ended up trading it away because I don't travel enough to use it properly and I found the extra hand made it harder to read time at a glance.

·

First congrats!

I like my CW gmt a lot. To distract from the explorer homage, I ended up getting the one with the hand distressed green dial. I like it.

The other option in my mind was the hodinkee x mido gmt collab. It’s in the same price range and I think it’s gorgeous. There are still some available, maybe give it a look.

I eventually went with CW because I wanted a micro brand. But it was close.

CW all day every day!

·

I don't think either would be a bad choice, one is more dressy one is more sporty.

·

Very different watches. The Farer is much more distinctive and interesting. Go for the one you like the look of most.

·

CW is a high quality build and extremely popular. Even with all of that I would choose the Farer. This Farer Stanhope 2 is a celebration of colors, shapes and textures. The manual wind forces you to engage with it , similar to how you engage with 10k subs in the comments.

Watching your CRT video as I type this. Your suit in said video matches the Farer to perfection.

Going to watch some more of your videos

Love the Farer it’s a special design

·

I have owned a C63 GMT and think it's a top watch.

Personally I am not a fan of Farer or their owner, so I would go CW all day long. 👍

What's up with their owner?

What's up with their owner?

I have seen a couple of emails from him dealing with customers. I think people like him should leave customer service to the professionals.

In interviews has struck me as a bit of a 🍆

·

Farer and CW are my two most favorite independent brands. Can’t go wrong with either. Might I add, you seem to have perfectly impeccable taste!

·

Farer. Their stuff impressed me more than CW when I saw them both at the last two Windup watch fairs.

·

I have the Farer and whilst I love how it looks and it’s an excellent watch… I would wear the CW way more… GMT, No small seconds and fits more with my typical style.

Both very different, however I'd go CW but the new dragonfly blue with the Consort bracelet.

·

Congratulations! I am a Christopher Ward enthusiast. That said, everyone I know that owns a Farer, loves it. The bigger question for you, is are you in need of a sports watch or something more playful? Either way you get a great watch! Happy hunting.

·

1 more vote for the Christopher Ward C63 GMT…bought this as a milestone to commemorate my daughter’s first solo trip to England.

Wow that Farer is beautiful. Get that one

The CW is an absolute beauty. Great choice for the price!
