This is a tough vote because I think it varies based on what you’re going for. I you want a cheap but reliable beater/daily, Casio. If you want a nice dress watch on a budget, Seiko. Of course there’s more to it, but that’s just what I think.
I don’t have too much “watch stuff” yet, but what I have goes in my jewelry drawer in my watch box. I have a tool kit that doesn’t go in there, but in the drawer are a couple straps, links, spring bars, and a few other tools. So far so good. I don’t imagine I’ll need extra storage soon.
I say powermatic because I would prefer an automatic movement over a quartz one. And you also get the waffle dial with the powermatic 80 movement. I don't have one yet, but I’m betting my next watch will be a PRX glacier, blue, or black waffle dial.
When I go to the gym, I typically wear my Casio DW291H, although I’ve got a Garmin for the gym I don’t often wear. I just like the big numbers and I usually just use the chronograph to time my breaks in between sets.
