How do you store your "watch stuff"?

After over 5 yrs of collecting, I've accumulated a lot of watch stuff. Since early on I've kept most of it in a small wooden box I bought on eBay and until recently, it worked fine. But for the last few months it was overcrowded and I started having to supplement it with extra smaller boxes containing this and that. The small drawer in my bedside cabinet was increasingly messy and crowded and hindering access to my watch box! "O no!" I cried in my desolation, "This is the worst thing that ever happened to me." (You can tell I live in the first world 😉) I started scouring Amazon and eBay, looking for a better solution and I'm pleased to say I've fixed this devastating watch collecting problem, I found a "Rolykit"!

I remember these from many years ago being advertised on tv. I wanted one back then but didn't really have a use for it. Now I do.

So now everything has it's own compartment, from 20mm leather straps, other leather straps, spring bars and various tools. Even my demagnetizer fits. The only thing that doesn't is my timegrapher, it's just too big.

Once again I'm a happy watch collector, not lying awake at night worrying about where my 18mm spring bars might be. 😕

So, have you found eternal happiness with your watch stuff storage problems, and if so, how?

Very awesome idea! I stole two of my wife’s bamboo silverware organizers for a temporary solution. I was thinking about getting a few of those Toyo toolboxes but I might have to pick up one of these Rolykits instead.

I use to have a Rolykit has a kid. That is a great idea for watch maintenance

·

Man that brings back memories! And damn what a great use for one! Your spot on.

🍻

That's a great idea, they are now quite hard to find and are fetching a premium price.

I got it on eBay for $30. Isn't that what they originally sold for?

Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered one.

This is the storage case I use. It has a handle and rolls, though it has yet to leave the house.

I don’t have too much “watch stuff” yet, but what I have goes in my jewelry drawer in my watch box. I have a tool kit that doesn’t go in there, but in the drawer are a couple straps, links, spring bars, and a few other tools. So far so good. I don’t imagine I’ll need extra storage soon.

I do have "too much" watch stuff. Most, but not all, of the stuff is in these boxes:

The big one I got from Harbor Freight for like $80. I modded the top with foam inserts and bamboo trays to hold 12 watches in comfort (with just the cushions it would hold twice that probably).

It's got six drawers like this:

And two like:

The little one was $25 from Amazon and has most of my watch-modding kit in it:

It's brand new so still being fitted out.

There's also a cabinet drawer with the big stuff in it (case press, trays, etc.) and this isn't counting the boxes, trays and rolls that just have, you know... watches in them.

Nicely done. A lot more esthetically pleasing than a Rolykit and a lot more $!

Nice. It's good it's never left the house. It would take 6 burley guys or a small elephant to carry it! 😉

Well done! built well and not an ugly plywood edge to be seen anywhere. Gotta love all wood construction. I have some aromatic cedar for my next project. I upgraded from corkboard to a glass display case ( with cork board under the felt)

Nice try! A Gribble never reveals his secrets!

It's made of aluminum - super light! It's about the size of a carry-on bag.

Pictures of objects that vary widely in size are deceptive.

I'm using one of those wonderful cantilevered Toyo tool boxes. My wife gave it to me for Christmas, just a few months into my new watch habit, as the sudden proliferation of small things was becoming a challenge; without another immediately obvious use for the box, I filled it with watch stuff. It's not the worst container for the purpose, but neither is it the best; I'd make better use of a greater number of smaller compartments. But it's an incredibly satisfying box to handle, and so attractive (I think) that it doesn't feel like it needs to be hidden away in the garage when not in use.

·

This is brilliant! Like a watch roll but for watch tools

A bit OTT perhaps. 😂😅🙄😁Brought this home the other day, clearing my late Mums house. Parents bought it in about 1950.
