I said Powermatic but you might want to check out @Max ’s latest video on it. It’s making me consider things a bit.

When I saw them both in person the powermatic spoke to me way more and seemed to have more soul than the quartz version so that’s the one I went with but each has its pros and cons

·

Ok. I bought the quartz version for one reason. I think the Powermatic dial looks too much like the Royal Oak. I thought getting the quartz would give the same flashy look but also stand apart from the homage-ish look. But the Powermatic is clean 🧼.

Yup! Quartz all the way for me too, the powermatic dial tries to much to become a RO with an overseas case.

Bought the Powermatic green dial. Wore it once and flipped it. Wore painfully top heavy with that shit butterfly clasp digging in. And the lug to lug wears way large.

34-37mm quartz would be the way to go

19cm wrist

I’d take a look at the thread (if you’re brave enough haha) on WC for that video. It was sort of confirmed in that thread that the movement CAN be serviced. For sure do your own research though.

I bought the quartz silver because it wears a little thinner, the date window blends a little better, and I like the gold hands.

I don't think Max's video should dissuade someone who likes the Powermatic though.

In Max's video, a watchmaker commented that the movement can indeed be serviced.

·

The Quartz has the better price vallue ratio.

·

I dislike the waffle dial. I prefer Quartz for this one.

·

I got both.

Initially powermatic and I love it but it wears big even on my 7.5 inch wrist.

So I got the 35 mm quartz light blue dial and I love it even more. Only problem with it, the bracelet is at max so summer time when my wrist swells I won't be able to wear it.

·

the dial on the powermatic is sooo good to look at

Yep saw that, which is why the automatic is still my prefered one but I’m going to want to take a closer look at how these hold up.

I’m sure it can nothing is impossible but I still want to wait a little and see how well they hold up. They’ve only been out for a year. Does the movement suffer after time? How hard is it to get someone to service it?

I heard there’s a video on youtube that goes into it in more detail so I’ve got an easy starting point.

I think that's wise. Let's see what happens. Personally, I prefer the movements with decades of proven performance too.

·

Powermatic for me. Truth be told, I wouldn't say no to a PRX automatic with the quartzes brushed dial too. For certain colours the quartz dial presentation wins hands down over the tapisserie dial.

Runs away and hides from angry hordes

·

I've said it before, i'd like the quartz with the waffle dial.

·

Quartz = value for money.

·

the quartz is more faithul to the original seastar, its thinner, if you get the gold plated and remove the seconds hand you get a budget 222, for me the star of the show is clearely the case and bracelet, plus i share max's and tgv's concerns about the pwr matic 80, if it would have been a regular eta it would have been a different story

·

I would pick the Tissot Powermatic blue waffle, but with leather strap.

·

I say powermatic because I would prefer an automatic movement over a quartz one. And you also get the waffle dial with the powermatic 80 movement. I don't have one yet, but I’m betting my next watch will be a PRX glacier, blue, or black waffle dial.
