keep in mind as well speedmaster you would need to wind every day/other day. But I would go for the speedy as a first omega (in fact this is what I did!)
the new one is stunning in person TBF but I just couldn’t justify 33% above retail on a current production model. The Kermit I could mental gymnastics my way into saying “it’s discontinued so theres a limited amount yada yada” 🤣
for me this decision would really be a function of what I’m getting the watch for
if it’s a tool watch that’s not as flashy as the modern versions I’d go for the late 90s pre ceramic rolexs because they look a bit more tool watch. An alternative to this would be Tudor
if it’s a one watch to wear all the time i would go for a submariner or speedmaster. Don’t know much about IWC but Maybe a portugese chrono.
wouldnt really think about things like “Rolex factor“ if I were in your shoes. a Daytona vs speedmaster is very diff from datejust vs speedmaster if you catch my drift.
Out of curiosity, why would you dump the Tudor? even If he gets a dedicated dive watch doesn’t it fill the GMT slot quite nicely as well?
