What ever next?

Hi Crunchers,

Current STOC above - after 12 months of having caught the bug.

Want to buy one great watch this year (maybe the odd micro brand as well, lets be honest!) for my upcoming wedding.

What do you think i need? Would love a Datejust 41 if i can get my hands one... but what does the collection need next and what would you experienced crunchers be looking at next?

Obviously, I'm lacking a diver.... and I kind of view my Zenith as my dress watch ...as it looks INCREDIBLE in that context.

Thanks and much love!

That is one beautiful collection for just one year! I could see a Sinn diver as being an amazing addition.

That collection is salty!  Well done!

A diver is the obvious choice, but not for your wedding, and I am assuming you want to wear this new piece on that celebratory day. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I have a couple of options for you based on your collection and potential missing wedding piece.

  1. A Cartier would be a fantastic choice. A Santos or Tank; buyers choice.
  2. The JLC Reverso. You might not be James Bond and be able to pull off a river with a Tux, but literally anyone can pull off a JLC in a penguin suit. It’s that good!

  3. Get a dive watch (sorta) you can wear to your wedding…and literally anywhere any time. The greatest of all go anywhere do anything Omega Aqua Terra.

  4. If you want some that says, I’m not your average watch fanboy, I’m in deep, go with a Nomos Ahoi

JLC would be lovely! Good spot

Tried on the aqua terra.... felt kind of bored by it.... maybe i need to revisit though!

cheers buddy!

Almost any Nomos would be a perfect wedding watch. Nice call

That is one beautiful collection!  Absolutely love the Zenith Chronomaster Sport 😍😍😍

I'd second Omega and also add Grand Seiko as a future option; the SLGA007 to be specific! 😀

SLGA007, good call! Love GS but totally confused about their collection... that one is a winner!

And yes, the Zenith is incredible. Once i actually saw it without the plastic on it and in real life it really exceeded my expectations. It is stunning.

Cheers mate!

I think an everyday stainless steel watch on a bracelet would be a good addition. Something like your mentioned date just 41, Rolex OP, Longines Spirit, Omega Aqua Terra, Grand Seiko Snowflake to name a few

·

Great job for only 12 months.  The change I would make would be to dump the Tudor for a nice dive watch or super compressor.  I think the collection needs a World Timer such as the Omega Aqua Terra WT.

Nice group!

Out of curiosity, why would you dump the Tudor? even If he gets a dedicated dive watch doesn’t it fill the GMT slot quite nicely as well?

Damn thats a sweet set of watches you've got there. I don't have a ton experience, but what I think is great to round it off is maybe a more refined, simple or even minimalistic watch. Check out the Rado Golden Horse, Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra or a Nomos Ahoi. Also, a Longines Sector would be a great dress watch for your wedding.

·

Great choices so far.  I kind of agree that a diver would fit nicely.  What if we could suggest a diver that is great for every occasion from scuba to tuxedo?  Oh wait, I have one in mind.

I believe every collection should have at least one quartz/digital. A wedding is hectic!  You'll need a grab and go with perfect accuracy so you don't miss the main event ;-).

A classy eco drive citizen would be perfect. Then you'll have a watch that will last 15 years without servicing and be a constant memory for you.

Nomos Ahoy is a beautifully executed dress watch in 36 mm my choice

Christ, that is lovely. always felt 38mm was slightly too small for me though.... im clearly compensating for something!

My example is 43mm but doesn’t seem to wear as large as that number suggests.  It’s super comfortable.

You've done well in such a short time. With no budget range, suggesting a new watch is quite risky, but from you existing collection you seem to be attracted to sportier rather than dressier time pieces.

Not sure lengthening the waiting list at your local Rolex AD is the best move. I have seen suggestions for the Longines Spirit 37 and that's a brilliant idea.

For something different, have you checked the Formex Essence 41 Leggera ? Looks great, COSC certified movement and, on the OEM leather strap and clasp, you will not find a more comfortable wearing experience. And with the massive price difference with a DateJust, you can treat your future spouse to a nice piece too.

·

flip one of the khakis, get the omega smp 300m for a diver and one gshock square and the collection is perfect.

·

Well, if you are in the good old USA, take a trip to Pennsylvania and get an RGM. 😁

I dislike Rolex/Tudor/Hans Wilsdorf for turning great watch companies into a into a hype creating, customer abusing money making machine void of any watchmakers or designers.  I agree with having a GMT in the collection but I would much rather see a less utilitarian looking true GMT.

·

Nice collection so far...I think a Diver would be good..Stay out of the
Rolex rabbit hole until people quit overpaying for them..JMO...There are alot of cool divers out there..

·
ADSSG1

i know this is sacrilege... but seiko just dont do it for me 😮

Grand Seiko on the other hand!

That’s a really really really nice seiko 🍻

·

Definitely a diver! Can't beat the no date Sub, or the BB58, or the Seamaster. They are obvious choices, but there are lots of other pieces available. I think Longines are absolutely killing at the moment! I love the Heritage below. If it were a 38, 39, or 40mm, I would definitely pull the trigger!

Image

I'm going to the AD to try the piec above, as I'v got a serious crush ❤️ on her!

Great collection in a year by the way. If given the chance, it amazing what the bug can do! 😉

·

I would add a Omega Semaster/Planet Ocean or A Blancpain Fifthy Fathoms and i would also try to get my hand on a Bell Canto and add it to the collection.

I think it would be a really gorgeous round up then😉

Maybe this helps you a bit.

Have a great day!🤝🏻

·

A diver is definitely next: in no particular order (and I am avoiding Tudor since you have one)

Any Seiko SKX you can find that you like or even a seiko 5

Submariner, no date

50 fathoms, not a bathyscape

Seamaster Diver 300 M, NTTD if you can get it. Bracelet, the NATO you should get for free

Zodiac, take your pick

JLC Polaris if you really want to rock a collection of unique pieces

Look at these brands:

Christopher Ward

Grand Seiko

Casio bro

·

Cartier santos?

·

What about Aikon?

And the new Carrera Date?
