Which Omega should I go after for my first omega time piece?

I am having a hard time choosing between getting a Omega Seamaster or a Omega speedmaster for my first omega watch.

The speedy as I see it as more versatile and I'm not a fan of helium escape valves on the sea masters but that's just my design preference

I know what I want the.....SPEEDY!

Cheers!

BOGO.  The Speedy and take the money you saved and spend it on the Mido Ocean Star GMT (Hodinkee version).  That way you get the Speedy Chrono (my grail) plus a Divers GMT (instead of a Diver Chrono): so 2 watches and 3 complications instead of 1 watch and 2 complications.

That's assuming you are going for the hesalite.  If you are looking at the sandwich, same choice but spend your savings on a Seiko Samurai or one of the new Seiko GMTs instead.

Seamaster and a moonswatch. Then you have both and saved money. 😉

·

Not the Speedmaster. Can we get something without an HEV?

·

both iconic watches

but ill go for the Seamaster, only because I'm a James Bond fan haha

·

keep in mind as well speedmaster you would need to wind every day/other day.  But I would go for the speedy as a first omega (in fact this is what I did!)

·

You only have to look at my handle and you know which one I'm going to pick 😉

I literally did this!

and I would say - if your wrist isn’t massive - if just get the speedmaster.

turns out the speedmaster graces a small wrist a lot more easily than the seamaster - which is a lovely thing - but too big for me.

Speedy, Speedy and Speedy!! No contest for me.

·

Do you have other divers? If so, Speedy. Do you have other chronos? If so, than Seamaster.

·

I stupidly tried the Speedy about a week ago (can’t afford it at the moment), and the AD said "Everyone needs a Speedy.. ;)"

douchebag xD

A new Speedy is more expensive than a new SMP.

You act as if watches are useful tools. Granted, it’s statistically more likely I will be saturation diving than space walking, but still.

·

Seamaster, Im a little bit biased though. I tried a Speedy on at the same time but think the 300 felt a bit more special, personally, especially for the price.

I would love a Speedy one day though!

·

I would get a non-chronograph version of the Seamaster.

·

Tough call

i have the current speedy 3861 and the previous model SMPc chrono

both are killer watches but I do think the speedy is more versatile esp compared to the silver and blue version you’re looking at (I have that color scheme in an aqua Terra) and if I were only  gonna have one omega I’d want to be able to wear it all the time.  The bracelet in the speedy is also superb!

Seamaster for sure.....speedmaster is totally overrated in my opinion, and winding it is a pain in the ass....sold mine after 2 years of owning, I am happy it is gone, goodbye and good riddance 😉

Between those 2 specific watches, I gave to choose the Speedmaster, but if you're looking for a Diver, I'd recommend the Planet Ocean, 600 meter, better looking than the above diver (obviously, my opinion), and way more waterproof. There's even a PO Chronograph, which is what I'm considering right now.

·

I'd say a speedy if thats your thing but the '57 model instead

·

How about an aqua terra ??
