Jumped the shark.

Ok gang!

Most likely thanks to influence from my fave watch bros here (looking at you Jerome! @Ichibunz) and the awe inspiring collectors on our site ( @AllTheWatches @ChronoGuy @JaeBust ..)

I jumped on a pre sale to own a Swiss made tourbillon! 🤪🤩😲

It's an under the radar pre sale that was missed on the last bites @Deeperblue , at least this specific model. (They released a different one at the same time that was mentioned)

I won't get it for at least a few months, so waiting and saving will be fun, right!

Image

I learned about this brand through my best buddy here in Vancouver, who is close friends with and introduced me to one of the main guys at Horage.

The specifics on this model are pretty bonkers:

Fully Swiss made Ti and silicon tourbillon, with ~90% of all watch components sourced locally.  😱

Grade 5 Ti, it's lighter than air! 42gram watch and 64g on included leather strap

100m WR and activities and sports are encouraged, including swimming and bike riding (bikes are generally toxic for balance wheels, even more so for a tourbillon I’d think!).

So It’s a legible sports Tourbillon, unlike this RM 27:

Image

Red X1 superluminova lume

120 Hr power reserve, and while not officially COSC, it's within COSC.

8990 Swiss francs in pre sale.  For me, this is very Pricey (pricey-est for me, so far! 😜) - but crazy cheap for a Swiss Tourbillon and it felt like the best chance I'd have to get one in this price range.

Huge bonus: the price includes 100% of shipping, duty, tax, and random shady ‘brokerage’ fees - this is huge for me!

I LOVE a price that’s the price to be 'all-in', and not have a bunch late breaking and depressing extra fees

They have an option to break up the payment up into 2 parts, separated by ~3 months, for no charge.( 2x 4495)

I’m using that option and I'll sell a few of my less worn watches in the interim to help fund this.

Image

It's overall design is not without a dash of 'esoteric':

Hand wound, but screw crown crown.  Talked to my new buddy who works at Horage.  They wanted to make this thing fine to do a triathlon with, and designed it to be getting the crown unscrewed wound, and screwed in again, constantly.  I do prefer a screw crown anyway, so I think this is best vs a push pull for me.

120hr reserve means not needing to do it too often.  I know it's quite odd to do a screw crown with a hand wind.  But since it’s my first hand wind I don’t think it’ll bother me.

A micro rotor would be ideal here, and Horage does this on other models, but not with the K-tourbillon anytime soon.

It's got a photography theme... which is a fun hobby I'm currently trying to get better at .. but not really a central theme in my life, so I won't really appreciate or notice this aspect much. 🤷‍♂

It's got a 'lens' (like a camera!!) over the tourbillon.

Horage notice buyers of their first tourbillon were posting frequent macro shots of the big event on the dial.  So designed this model with an idea to highlight that highlight even more.

The Lens looks unique. I dislike a cyclops over the date, too warping, too much like a sapphire wart. But this is much larger and more gradual, with minimal distortion, and to me looks good in pictures. My hope is that it improves watching the amazing feature underneath it.

300 pieces.  Pre sale on now. Price goes up on Friday the 12th afternoon, I think

BTW, I'm still the nutty Seiko and Grand Seiko guy, but I doubt I'll be getting a constant force Kodo.  So, I'm daring to add something 'punch in the face' different to the paddock: trying a tourbillon.

Congratulations!!!!

Absolute stunner and I'm super curious to hear how your experiences are with it!

I'm tempted.

·

AWESOME! I got the pre-order, but I have other items in front of it so have to hold off, but am a bit envious. If I were to add a tourbillion today, this would have been the one I pulled the trigger on.

·

Such a unique start - a startup that got screwed out of buying ETA and Sellita movements, got mad, and made their own innovative new movement.

locally sourced and built, it’s modular so doesn’t grow thicker with complication changes or additions

K1 and K2 , named for the famous mountains. making an original movement was akin to climbing one of those 😂

Bremont’s new movement is Bremont buying the rights from Horage to copy and build the K1

·

Wow and Tobleron!! 😱😜!! Congrats intriguing !! 🤔

Cheers my friend! 🍻

Yes will post liberally once I get it. But I doubt it will be before Autumn. All good, waiting is part of the fun here.

I had considered a Swiss tourbillon to be the same category as a Rainbow Daytona or a Jacob and Co Bugatti sapphire V16: something unobtainable for me.

Also, one of small group guys who makes this brand was flat out telling me to do a triathlon in it. Ok!

Also interesting: the silicon pallet fork doesn’t need rubies, so apparently has more reliability and longer service intervals than typical versions of those. 😲

Thanks for sharing! Super refreshing to see something original and different!

Congrats, @Fieldwalker, a fantastic piece that reminds me of the Zenith Christophe Colomb. This is an avenue I haven't as yet explored. Enjoy and wear it in good health, Sir!

Not sure if includes a Toblerone, but that is brilliant! I’m going to eat one after work 🤤

Holy Sh*te! 🤯

That watch is epic. I love the historic tie in with marine chronometers, which were effectively a GPS of their day. The story of John Harrison is fascinating and worth reading about

You get this Jacob and I’ll be coming to your house to see it in person.

Wow - had kind of assumed you had lots of tourbillon watches already! Oops 🙊. Consider it a compliment 😉

Yup, this one is a unique design, robust build, and crazy good (for a Swiss tourbillon) on price. I figured it’s a purely aesthetic complication …but I expect to routinely loose myself watching that magic mechanical complexity 🥰🥺😀

·

Wow!!! Great stuff, man!

·

B E Ahhhhhh U tiful!!!!

·
Fieldwalker

Thanks Todd! Yeah, it’s a stretch. but I’ve always been fascinated looking at a tourbillon

BTW - you see the new fossil x Star Wars release? The watches are inexpensive and a bit campy, but personally, I like campy Star Wars stuff 🙄😂

I did see those and while I enjoy campy Star Wars stuff, I have enough of it already. Trying to get some more serious type pieces and budget being what it is, I gotta save up.

Speedy will not happen if I get detoured on the campy stuff.

·

💪. I think I speak for all of the 'crunch when I say we are looking forward to the speedy getting checked off your list

·

Congrats! Fantastic watch and excellent value.

When I saw Lensman...I thought of this...being a huge e.e. "Doc" Smith fan...

Thanks Mel!

Wow! - I know most old series but this one escaped me. Just quickly read up on it. Interesting, seems it was reasonably big in Japan, appearing in both manga and movies.

It'd be nice if this watch lens allowed me telepathic communication and mind control. So far this watch lens only power seems to be controlling my mind, telling me to hand over lots of cash. 😑

If you ever read the Lensman series (from the 1930s), you will know where Lucas got most of his ideas for some homage movie called Star Wars 😉

😯That's crazy! Will look closer at the books!

Horage makes some really cool sh*t. I really love the GMT they make.

Though pricey, this is less than half the price of a TAG tourbillon which was the lowest Swiss made up until now I believe.

I’m slowly stalking a GS addition this summer otherwise I’d be all over the Horage. Congrats on the new one and look forward to an update when it arrives.

·

^^ This is KEY for us Canadians. That's like a 30% discount for us haha.

Congrats man! A Swiss Tourbillion is definitely a nice piece to add to any collection.

It’s hard to overstate isn’t it!!!

I pretty much didn’t believe it and directly contacted my new friend at Horage (a Canadian who lives in Bein Bheil) to double check, such was my disbelief 🤪

Looks fire, enjoy in good health!

I know right, Horage doesn’t do homage and are very original thinkers. They feel they 50% Swiss = Swiss is a joke. It’s a very small company doing things right and skimping on nothing.

I’m in a slow perpetual GS stalk, so totally get that.

It’s a shame for us not of the not on the Bay Area payscale (or even worse, using Canadian dollars 😢) are financially derailed after a purchase like this. 😂

And I was on break from purchasing watches!! So thankful wifey not on here 😅

Keep us GS addicts in the loop about the potential new watch, effusive praise of your decision is incoming.

·

Well done, looking forward to your review once she arrives! 🤙❤️🤙

Thank you! I'm going to go all O'leary on the band 😉 - with the red indices some combo of red or red and black should look awesome.

·

That's a damn nice looking watch (will say I'm not a fan of open fronts/hearts, but I can forgive this time) great looking , love the red indices and it's got great presence. So a thumbs up from me👍 in fact 👍👍👍👍

Actually…I’m totally with you on cut away dials!!

They Look kooky - some weird combo of a skeleton and a dial, and often looking bad on both.

However, for me, a tourbillon is a different kettle of fish.

Basically 100% of tourbillon watches, from Patek to AP to Chopard to Breguet, to RM to Moser.. etc… a Tb will highlighted and visible boldly in the front somewhere.

The thinking: If you take the time and effort to build a spectacular ‘complication’ like this, it’s only real function is to be seen and appreciated.

That I’m getting a Swiss tourbillon that’s hand made from Swiss parts, like the brands above, is what’s so crazy 😜
