New Favorite Brand?!? It Must Be!

I was organizing my collection yesterday, and it occurred to me that Bulova has truly become one of my favorite brands, both for vintage and for new watches. It is surprising to me because so many of their new models strike me like Richard Mille, Hublot, or Invicta; oversized and ostentatious. Nevertheless, I found that I have over a dozen Bulova watches on my collection, making it one of the most prolific brands in my collection, only exceeded by Casio in total number of watches in my collection. Here are my favorite twelve.

It is hard to have just one vintage Bulova. They had a thirty year run after the Second World War where almost everything that they did was a winner. They had range of designs too, from dress to divers.

They can spend the next decade reinterpreting their back catalog for modern specs and tastes and produce many watches worth owning.

I like the square one with the black strap. Is it some accutron variant?

My first "real" dress watch was a Bulova. Back in 1989 My Aunty thought a black and gold Caravelle would be perfect on a long haired, tight jeaned Metallica jacket wearing, Freestyle BMX riding, Hacky-Sac playing Swatch Rock star. Maybe give me some "style" she said, "looking respectable has to start somewhere" she'd say. 馃 huh....wonder if she's still alive.聽

That is either the Computron reissue from their Archive Series, or the Sutton Classic. The Computron is the red LED digital watch and the Sutton is the open heart automatic.

I like some of their vintage watches, and owned one back in the 70s. Unfortunately I find all their new watches horrible.聽

I agree about many of their new models, but I am a big fan of their Military and Archive series watches, and I like the Joseph Bulova Series as well. The watches on the upper row are newer reissues except for the two on the right. The Sutton Classic has a retro appearance I appreciate. The Precisionist I have is the only model I like; the other models are akin to Hublot or Invicta Bolt in appearance. I am saving up for a Joseph Bulova Breton as well.

Lol, right!! You were either Miami Vice or Rad !!!

Great selection of Bulovas! Combine Bulova and Accutron, throw in Caravelle, and you can build an amazing collection of really cool watches.

I have my own mini collection of Accutron/Bulova/Caravelle both vintage and new...will probably add more over time...maybe soon will do a week of wrist checks of the collection for WRUW...
