Your #1WC winner...

Why is this watch the perfect choice to win the 1WC challenge?

Ravishingly good looking. The texture to the dial and glint from the recessed indices makes it one of those watches that you'd have to look at twice to tell the time, because it's beauty would be too distracting the first time.

Wafer thin and ridiculously comfortable. Single digit mm thickness makes it a true 'slide under the cuff' watch.

The underdog. Who wouldn't want to see a £20 pin-pallet Ingersoll win over these Explorers and Tudor's? 😉

****

@Aurelian also tasked us with choosing the Disney princess or villain who would likely wear our #1WC watch.

As beautiful as it is, my Ingersoll is a fragile and fickle thing, so considering most villains have to be prepared for a scrap at some point, that basically left me with the princesses.

Anyone with a moderately active lifestyle gets ruled out, so we loose Mulan, Merida, Pocahontas and Rapunzel.

Image

Anyone with any association with water is out... bye bye Ariel, Tiana, Moana and Cinderella (too many mop buckets to risk it).

Image

This isn't a watch to wear while playing with Tigers ... Sorry, Jasmine.

Belle?

Too much vigerous dancing.

Snow White... Hmmm... Not sure this pin-pallet can withstand all that rabbit petting.

Which leaves.... Aurora. Sleeping beauty.

Perfect. This watch is definitely an excellent choice for someone who basically doesn't move or need reliable time telling.

So, in other words, it's the watch for people who don't actually need a watch...

Meaning that the point of it is what, exactly?

Who cares? Nobody needs a watch, everyone just use their smartphones to tell the time.

I admire the choice of vintage for such a journey. This watch is beautiful. Best of luck with the rest of the challenge!

I think it's called "irony"

I almost feel guilty about the lack of effort on my 1WC post now I've seen yours. Almost.

You're were probably head girl at school; I was drawing willies on the blackboard when the teacher wasn't looking.

·

Pretty, but a little precious for my taste....especially for a 1WC. I feel like I would break it just looking at it.

I bunked off…

this pin-pallet will probably not survive the #1wc

Oh absolutely. I'm not sure I would trust myself to clap wearing this thing, but it doesn't have to be a true 1WC watch... it just has to win the challenge.... which is just an exercise in concentration and not watch related at all.

The watch may well break... but what you have to ask yourself, is would she continue to wear it anyway out of shear bloody-mindedness?

It means it's a watch for people who run to their own time, not someone else's.

See how well that works out for you over at the Department of Motor Vehicles...

Great post! #1WC did pretty good with these posts so far! Sleeping beauty may be the funniest choice yet.

You wind the pin-pallet and if it stops working it's true reality

The real point of that watch is that it's totally unnecessary but very pretty and dainty. That's the watch you date but marry the Casio for the real work. Or the Seiko because everyone says she is nice.

·

Great post!

Since I was absent for a couple of days and clearly not concentrating I completely missed the start of this year's challenge!

And that's despite having posted about it before the bloody thing started. There's always next year!

Sleeping beauty gets my vote!

nice princess fit hahahahha

Pin-pallet gang rise up...

·

A pin pallet!!! OMG that's more than brave. If that lasts the distance I can see 'somebody' editing their vintage real advice (don't read this at your peril) post. And the price of pin pallets going stratospheric. Pin pallet OMG this comp is NUTS!!!

Yeah, I thought mine was a crazy watch choice, until I saw yours.

I think she would… and that scares me.

·

A great choice and lovely with the interesting finish pattern on the bezel

Another option - The Ingersoll Bison No. 18 - visualising it, miss it. Gave it to my 6'7" 260lb ex-international bouncer buddy as thought it would suit him better!
