Anyone else do weird things like print out watches to see if they would suit them?ย
Yeah, I know I got problems.
Also, do you like my new Cartier? ๐

This post and @Omeganutโs chicken leather strap are why I love this place. ๐๐๐๐๐
I haven't printed out a watch to see how it fits, but I have used my calipers and a pencil to mark the dimensions of a watch on my wrist to get an idea of how it would fit. ๐คฃ
i didnโt print it but yes quite similar to you i would use a ruler to measure the dimensions, draw it on paper, cut it out and place it on my wrist to see if it is too big/small haha!ย

I have the calibers in my office for that purpose, to hold them up against the watch I'm currently wearing.
I donโt want to admit I have done thisโฆ๐คซ
I have really thought about getting a 3D printer and try to 3D print watch cases in order get a sense of scaleย

Woohoo! That's close enough! Not just me ๐

Oh wow, that would be next level! ๐

This - and a sharpie
I don't think it's a problem LOL I wish it was easy to see if it suits you rather than going into AD all the time. I do love the Cartier
๐ I do this on Tuesday with the image of a Speedmaster ๐ the only way I can afford one ๐
I definitely do not do this. What. A. Weirdo.
โฆwhat a brilliant ideaโฆ
I don't do this, but I have my own collection of weird idiosyncrasiesย
This is a brilliant idea ๐ย
Top rate idea....It might save a lot of collectors disappointments !
it wears much thinner than expected!๐
It slips under the cuff like a dream. Shall I do a full review? ๐ค
I've never done this, but wouldn't it be great if manufacturers could provide 3D printed samples of their watches made to exactly match the true dimensions, to allow you to determine if the watch would be suitable for your wrist.ย
I recently struggled with a decision between a medium and large version of a watch from a brand that doesn't have an AD within hundreds of miles of where I live. I would have gladly spent a few bucks to send away for 3D printed samples that would have allowed me to determine which size would have been best suited to my wrists. Of course the big drawback with this is that there are so many factors other than the pure dimensions that impact how a watch actually wears on the wrist, such as dial color, bezel width, etc.
As far as your Cartier goes, assuming that the printed size accurately matches the real watch, I think it would look great on you.
Yes, I managed to fudge it to scale, except the depths a bit off.
I would definitely get a 3d printed version if they did them. They could even give you return packaging so you could send it back and reduce waste.

Perhaps you could glue the paper version on some Styrofoam backing, and use an exacto knife to cut it to shape to get a better idea of the height :-)
ย Are you in the same boat as I am, with no Cartier AD available within a reasonable driving distance? I was lucky enough to be able to try on the large version of the watch I was considering, as one of the other members of our local watch enthusiasts group had recently purchased one. Without that opportunity, I'd probably still be debating which size to go for.ย
No...but now this is something I think I'll need to start doing myself! Genius! ๐
Donโt pay for this one if you havenโt already. It has some issues with the bracelet and can fall off your wrist any time soon ๐๐๐
PS. What a great idea! I must try this out. You opened the world of luxury watches for me, thank you so much!
Never thought about trying that. ย I can't wait to try my new A Lange Sohn 1815 chronograph in pink gold!
I donโt want to admit I have done thisโฆ๐คซ
I hate to admit that I have NOT thought of this. what a good ideaย

Now you mention, it does feel a little loose ๐ I may try a Patek next.
Hey, it's whatever floats your boat! That doesn't work with many other items though, like, shoes :)
I have never done this. ย The weird thing I tend to do is glue felt to metal buttons inside my jacket cuffs to protect my watchย

Me too!
Oooo.. printed matte dial.. ๐๐๐
I did print out one a while ago but it was always stuck on the same time and it wasn't waterproof. ย But I did get a good idea of its size on my wrist. ๐
You wonโt believe it, but I had just printed the Tank and was looking for more pictures when I came across this post. Itโs good to know Iโm not alone in this. ๐๐๐

actually, not a bad idea!
