A lesser-worn watch

Despite its popularity with the masses, I try (and mostly fail) to bond with my Royale.

Very rarely do I wear this watch. Is it the broad real-estate on the dial? Is it the steel bracelet but painted plastic case?

One can argue it’s almost the perfect watch…with a balance of functions that could complete a person’s one watch collection.

As much as I’ve tried to convince myself to love this watch, my willing spirit gives-in to my withering flesh.

What watch do you own you desperately try to love, but fall short in watch intimacy?

For me it's my GA-B2100... In theory it's what I should love, but after a short honeymoon I stopped wearing it.

Add a custom fit leather strap for a new look.

I hear they are hard to read.

I understand custom fit straps can be costly. But that is better than the alternative of a skinny strap due to the narrow lugs of the watch. What, may I ask, was the cost for that strap?

I dislike the size, but never found the dial hard to read. The camera doesnt really show how dofferent the grey markers are conpared to the black case/dial.

Some models look pretty hard to read in low light though.

I like this watch and bought one myself but I didn't find the strap to be very comfortable. I've since changed the strap and find it much nicer to wear.

Vario has custom straps specifically for the Royale. I have a couple-quality stuff for 28 bucks.

Much obliged!

Agree with previous…change out the Casio metal strap and it gets exponentially more comfortable and wearable

Fear not, Darin, I have a solution: mail your watch to me! 😎🤣 I will give it a good home! 🤣🤣

But seriously... changing the strap will sometimes breathe new life into a watch, as will modding it. (Can't you get stainless steel cases for those Royales?)

Isn't that the bluetooth version that automatically corrects the time?!? 😮😮😮 What's not to like? That one has been on my wishlist for quite a while! But I promised my wife (back in early March) not to buy anymore watches until Labor Day! 🤣

I’ve thought about the stainless steel case with the sapphire crystal…but that would make this watch cost as much as so many other desirable watches.

It's not about the cost. It's about value added. 👌🍷😎

Mostly the size and comfort are my issues with it. It's giant, flat, and the strap is pretty uncomfortable after a few hours.

I figured the solar and Bluetooth would make up for the size, but for me they don't.

I was cutting through a shopping mall to arrive at a subway station when I noticed a very compelling display in a basement watch and jewelry store showing Fortis chronographs for sale. Years before that when my wife and I visited Paris attempted to buy a Fortis Chronograph from a seller who spoke no English and struggled understanding my mostly forgotten high school French. 30 minutes after walking into the basement boutique, I had purchased a pair of basic chronographs that I enjoyed until I decided to sell them to a pre owned watch seller who paid very little for my mistakes but I did enjoy my experience, some years later, saw a Fortis Cosmonaut Chronograph with an alarm function for sale at a shop that was a Breitling ad, the MSRP was an inflated over 10k cad. I bought the watch, no real regrets, almost never wear it but the alarm function is neat. I may gift the watch to one of my nephews in a few years.

That Casio looks very appealing to me. I intend to check out some seller when opportunity exists. Now that I think about that failed experience in Paris, the shopkeeper’s young assistant was wearing a vintage Casio which the French consider to be very fashionable.

I'm not sure why but I'm not really as into this Tissot as I thought I'd be, and it's been half a year of ownership. I guess I don't really like the light brown (beige) dial after all. It's a great watch, really accurate quartz, wears very well, super tough leather strap...I just feel kinda meh about it.

I'll keep trying though. Are there watch counselors out there for failing watch relationships?

Love my Pogue….but!…..it is a complete pain not being able to wind it! Iconic, love the retro look…..not ideal for a daily wear.

You need at least two watches to have a collection.

·

There’s few I don’t wear that I still have but not ready to let them go. I don’t know why question keep asking myself. Why hang on to something if you not gonna use a lot. Some were gift other was part of my complete collection.

Well…I figure that watches don’t take up much space…so I hold on to all of my watches — though some are rarely-worn like the ole Royale.

I have a Royale and made it my only mod watch I love it wear it more than before.Maybe spice it up a little.

I guess I love all my watches except the ones that I have disowned but refuse to leave the house.

Yeah, try this: 1. watch a yt vid for how to take out the module. 2. Change the inside of the case with something colorful. 3. Share and enjoy
