Exactly. You canโt blame a business for making a product that sells. You may not like it, but clearly others do.

Keep the quartz movement, just put it in a steel case with a steel bracelet.

Omega has made a few Quartz Speedmaster models over the years. But, no, they don't charge Timex prices.

I find it strange that people complain Swatch makes a plastic watch, or that Omega doesn't make a $300 Speedmaster, but not that Rolex doesn't make a $300 Datejust. And sell them online. In bulk.

Yup. But now with the Omega name, branding, or style.
Which is what people pay for and line up for.
Make no mistake, I have plenty of Swatches. I love them. But charging a markup over their chronographs without the iconic Speedmaster design and branding isn't unreasonable.
Now there's a thought - how would a Mission to Moonraker look? Laser-coloured hands and a pair of shiny Jaws on the back?
