Watches for this Week: Going Green

For those who've joined me on these semi-weekly journies in re-imagining and enjoying my collection to prevent me from impulse buying, I'm sorry for not posting more routinely. The goal in this series is to remember what I have and to make sure any new addition truly adds something unique. This week's theme is the green in my collection.

  1.  My new piece is the SRPH15 Green Tortise. Already a fun field piece with diver DNA, it comes on one of Seiko's better bracelets but I swapped it for this generic leather strap. Much more comfortable for me.
  2. Next is the first adult dress watch I bought myself; the SRPD37 green Cocktail Time. This is on the provided Seiko strap with a deployant clasp. The true sunray dial has no subtlety but all the charm of a really faceted design. However, I'm on the hunt for a Grand Seiko to add into the collection to potentially replace this. Maybe a red dial?
  3. The Longines Spirit Zulu Time is not truly a green watch, but the green bezel steals the show. I recently put it back on the provided strap with the micro adjustable deployant clasp. I still think it is far better than the bracelet.
  4. Last is the Davosa Ternos Submariner homage. It is a well executed dial and the grey suede WatchGecko strap really is a good look.

The reverse of each watch is fun too and I enjoy the details on each one.

Last, I even got my Samsung Galaxy Active 4 in on the action with the available green Rolex Day Date face that can be downloaded.

I don’t have a green dial but you’re making me think I should rethink that. Zulu Time is still my fav of the 4.

Really like the new Seiko. I’m waiting on an SBP143 and I think I’ll likely swap out the strap immediately too.

The SPB143 is killer. It's almost a requirement to get the bracelet then not wear it. My SPB239 saved me the trouble with the awesome Seichu' braided straps...which are awesomely comfortable especially when you figure out the sliding keeper.

BTW, totally dig the Napoleon Dynamite reference in your profile.

Yeah those Seichu straps are killer. Thick, but really cool.

You’re the 1st to catch that. I’m sure everyone else just thinks I’m a perv.

Everytime I see the Zulu time my wallet’s spidey senses start to go off 😂 Great group of green dials there, pair with some bright red straps in time for Christmas… except that Zulu time, that brown leather band must remain. 🎄🎄🎄

You won't regret it once you wear it...😎

Great post 👌 I love that Zulu timer combo. I have not seen it in person, but I almost looks like it goes black/super dark green in some light

That's the fun thing about green watches. The color changes are dramatic in different light. Really adds visual variety to a good piece.

That Green Cocktail Time!  Oooo-la-la!

I have one but the green dial is only visible at certain angle and light. Its #frederiqueconstant Vintage Rally Healey edition

This is a brand I need to understand better. This is a great share.

I need a green dial or two in the collection.

Reese, Great post! I‘m NEW to watch collecting (learning  the lingo, etc.) QUESTION: I noticed when you gave a description of the time piece you would give 1st. the #No., 2nd. description (model/color) & finally, the MAKE, Seiko. Is this how one would describe their watch or am I reading too much into it. Your comment would be greatly appreciate.

Reading too much. It's just my style in these posts since most people know from a Seiko or Tudor.

..or three or four! Teasing of course, but, the dial variety I think rounds out any collection.

·

Already have my green Christmas watch under the tree...I need to look away...great choices!
